Mitsubishi 360 screaming "Save me!"

Thank you guys so so much man! When I started this car I had no idea it would garner so much attention, but you guys have been fantastic! Seriously, the car would not look as good as it does now had it not been for your support!

Unfortunately, as rayzz noticed the color is indeed a bit different between the main body of the car and the removable panels. No trick of the light or camera, just the trick of a shoddy paint shop filled with thieves. If it were a show car, I'd be furious, but since I intend on driving it everyday (or rather, as often as I can, haha), it doesn't bother me too much.

The car still has quite a bit of work left to do. Right now I've got her back up on stands to fix a leak from the top of the brake master cylinder and replace the rubber brake hose for the rear brakes. This last weekend though, I got a few things required for Shaken taken care of as well. Got my buddy to order me a new max. weight sticker for the trunk (最大積載量　300KG) as well as some new heater pipes.

I also got out there and got to work on a few other things I needed to get done as well. First up was an air filter. I've been searching for a new air filter for a couple of months now to no avail. As you can see, she aint the prettiest, haha.

So I bought some generic filter material in the form of a sheet and got to work.

Not the prettiest thing in the world, but it's in a place you never see and it probably filters better than the original paper by leaps and bounds, haha.

Also got my air conditioning (read: little vents by your feet) installed.

Since my old reverse light had turned to rust (so much so that you could see light through what was supposed to be steel) I figured I had to get something new. A trip to the motorcycle shop and I picked up this generic motorcycle rear light and a clear lens (meant for use with a red LED bulb).

So, not using a red LED bulb and fabricating a brake up to mount it on upside down, it doesn't look too bad!

It looks like it's lit up in some strange color but that's just the camera lens flaring up. She's actually a very bright white, should be great for seeing at night!

It's so awesome to see and hear that your car runs again, and it looks beautiful too!

And I have to say that your dedication is admirable. You kept almost every original part and only replaced them when they were too damaged, and also fixed every salvageable piece. If more people like you existed we would have many restored classics running around!

Reading this thread gives me motivation to fix the '75 Fiat 600 that's parked in my house... but that's where it ends, I don't have enough money saved up, hehe. Hopefully, someday I'll get all the neccessary stuff and restore it with as much patience as you are doing it with your Mitsubishi.

I just realized that that sticker is basically the oldskool JDM equivalent of the "no fat chicks" sticker we see here in the US. :lol:

Thanks guys so much for the comments! The 300Kg sticker is pretty cool, although its a bit smaller than the original sticker. It doesn't look too bad on the car though. Although, with this car, no fat chicks allowed is pretty accurate, you put too much weight in her and the paltry 21 hp wont be able to lug it around, haha.

Thanks for the kind words Killua! There are quite a few bits on the car that aren't original but I tried my best to make non-original parts look like they belong, haha. It turned out to be far less of a pain to put some paint on a non original part than to hunt for months for an original one (which often times are in just as bad a shape as the piece I had, haha).

I got a temporary license plate this weekend and drove her a bit, which highlighted some problems that she's having. Most notably the brake master cylinder is leaking pretty heavily and the carb is still all messed up. Going to have to pull both off and completely dismantle them, which interestingly, will make this the third time I've had both the brakes and carb apart, haha.

First thing I did though, was stick my 300Kg sticker on. It is a bit smaller than the original but I think it looks pretty good.

Then I got to work on getting my heater hoses on. These are just hi temp brake ducting that's been painted with a black base coat and then the same blue I've been using elsewhere in the engine compartment. Here's the first hose test fitted.

Here's the second hose hanging to dry with the black base coat on it.

Both hoses installed. The only things missing are the hose clamps which I put on today but forgot to grab a picture of.

I also decided to replace the rear rubber brake hose with a new one. Here's the new piece ready to go on. Nothing like full stainless steel braided brake hoses on a car with a top speed of 95 kph, haha!

And here she is outside with the temporary tag on it. The plate is the size of normal license plates but it looks massive on the car, haha. Fortunately, the real plates it'll receive will be about half the size.

Dod not see that, but I noticed that the whole back door is different, probably to accommodate different needs. Wonder how many different models they made?

Matt, thank you so much for posting those pics up! That thing is awesome! I fully intend on taking my girlfriend and dressing her up in a kimono and running out to some cherry blossoms for some black and white photos in front of the 360 whenever it gets done.

I've been pretty MIA as of late, but that's mostly due to the intense cold and a new car I've been hunting down (more on that later). On the Mitsubishi front, I finally got my brake parts in, woohoo!

Brand new seal and spring kit for my old master cylinder. I'm still absolutely blown away that you can still find these parts floating around brand new!

Assembled and ready to be installed.

All in and bled.

Took her for a test drive and once the engine fully warms up she drives great! The brakes stop fantastically, the engine is loud and angry but doesn't move the car quickly at all (haha, I think it'll run the quarter in like 30 seconds). The car is every bit as much fun to drive as I hoped it would be! Next weekend I'll get a temporary tag for it and do a proper shakedown and make sure that everything is running perfectly!

The reason she's sitting outside is to make room for the newest addition to the family!

1973 Isuzu Bellett! This one is going to be a blast too!
