1975 Galant Hardtop rebuild / modification

I think the MMC and Galant Lambda badges look out of place, given the Galant 1850 was long before MMC was even formed or when the Galant Lambda was released. Those steel wheels weren't the originals for that model, they look to be from something FWD and modern. Really not feeling that exhaust too. But hey, as someone else said at least it's not ending up on 18" flat faced chromes with whitewall low profile tyres, tan or white retrimmed interior and an intercooler sticking out below the front bumper.

I was never meant to be an all original museum piece.
The wheels were R31 Skyline Silo spares, I HATE 13" wheels.
Given that it is an Australian model it never was an 1850 but understand your point, the badges are not for keeps but appreciate the constructive critism.

Okay, so it has been a while. Not much has happened over the last few months, family/personal issues blah, blah.
Anyway, I am firmly back on the path to completion again with an eye on the end of October for the big unveil and first official road test.

I bought another hardtop to strip for spares.
Scored some straight and clean doors, mine were very badly rusted.
Mine on the right (in pic) and spare on the left (in pic)

This is how she sits at the moment, but is hiding some upgrades underneath

Scored some NOS GSII tail lights and interior light

Happy to report the spare hardtop found a new owner and is under restoration as we type, complete with my old doors

I scored a full rebuilt (4000k's old) 4G54 2.6lt Astron running flat tops, big cam, shaved 2.0lt head and balance shafts removed. Chucked it in along with my brand new redline manifold.

Then bought these to suit. 48mm Dellorto side draughts

So ................. I decided I wanted a red engine bay. Some will be haters but let them hate I say, lol
I then thought about all the black componants and decided to paint them all dark metalic grey, including my manifold
Fresh metalic silver and dark grey brake booster
Adjustable camber tops to complement the coilovers
I can't find the originals to resize, I think it looks good, lol.

This week I bought some remanufactured A55C GTO seats. They look stock but are actually leather

Okay, so thats where I am at today. Still gotta sort out paint, I am thinking about having a crack at it myself. Have the full custom exhaust system booked including a "octopus" style header.
So as I said, fingers crossed it will be sorted in about 8 weeks.

looking good, love the wheels on it (not such a big fan of the retreads on it) i like the way you have deleted the front turn indicators too! looks like she will be a beast when done!

The retreads were really just to get it rolling, $20 the pair on ebay, lol Plus they will do for running in and testing that the lsd works :twisted:

So it has been a while. I have spent the last few weeks preparing for paint as well as teaching myself how to paint, lol.
Well my first attempt is my hardtop and here is the result. Just had the tape removed and not yet polished.

No pics, the 800 pixel rule is silly and I can't be bothered changing all the pics.

Cheers Guys, the front brakes are stock GH Sigma 1979 I think? but I have added slotted rotors. The rears are stock box type lancer vented disks and calipers.

that ECi manifold from the Galant is it better than the stock ECi? whats the diffrence...

The Starion set up is single point and the Galant is multi point, it has 4 regular top feed injectors so is easily upgraded

First start up, ran pretty smooth. Was still a bit edgy on throttle but this was still cold and on choke. Once I tuned the carbs and it was warmed up it was smooth and very sharp on the revs.
