something happened to the car today. just drove it out of the garage to wash it.

went inside the house to get the hose.....then the car was gone.....

i didnt pull the handbrake full cock, the car rolled down the street and bumped my neighbor's civic.

damage:
mine : front bumper ->cracked paint on the bumper

neighbor: front bumper ->cracked bumper and all. good thing her headlights didnt break

sigh! :(

i dont want to take pictures.... still feeling bad about it.

front and rear bumps OK . painting done by me! :D

it took me 4 days to carefully scrape the old paint from the plastic bumpers. and another 4 days to complete painting.

Its a different style now, previously all portions of the bumpers were gloss jet black urethane paint.

Now I painted the upper portion with wrinkle matte black in acrylic, while the lower portion in gloss jet black urethane finish.

Got this yesterday from a friend. Englemann Side Mirrors. These were very popular here in the mid 80's. Fresh pair.Very Rare items nowadays.

Guys used to replace their factory side mirrors with these during those days.

They light up when the turbo kicks in ( If it's the original Turbo Lancer)

Well the certainly don't light up with the Turbo coming on Boost in the European Spec Lancer Turbo EX2000. Its a funny idea though, but not sure the local police would find it funny.

I just overhauled the carburators today. lots of gunk inside. will drain the gas tank so spoiled gasoline wont contaminate the new fuel....... so many things to do so little time.

update:

After 4 months of sleep, the car runs again!

the old gasoline is drained from the tank and new fuel put in. next step is to change the oil and plugs. starts at one click. and i also flushed the radiator.

just waxed it this afternoon, hopefully take it for a spin on sunday.

The "Turbo Lenses" pretty much sum up everything I love about old Japanese cars: style, flash, and kitschy, unecessary gadgetry.
