 Post subject: help me with my 1977 gto please!!

hello!!
i have a 1977 2 litre gto colt galant and the engine is so past dead its not even funny right off.

i was just wondering if any one knew of different engines that will fit the gearbox . one that i can get hold of cos here in the uk i cant find anything for the car!!!

the GTO is a japanese classic I wouldnt go hacking it about, other than another 2 litre (or 2.6 if you can find one, there should be a lot of 2/2.6 Pajeros there?) nothing is going to fit cheaply. Parts for the engine you have are plentifull and dead cheap if you shop wiisely, ebay is your friend, work out what you need and get it from Aus or USA as the engines are very very common there.

might have seen this one somewhere else? but anyway looks like the engine is the least of your worries... pull it apart and see what it needs and start buying bits as they come up cheap, get stuck into the rust :)

One option that is an easy bolt in is a sohc narrow block 4g63. The photo below is of a 16L with 4g63 and the only difference is that the GTO engine bay is longer. You have to use the 4g63 mount brackets, but that is the only change.

even if the body is bad, somethign like that would definately get fully restored in america or some other country that never received them as it's just worth it.
