Love the black Gemini Coupe taking on the torana, any idea what class/year etc that is?

PS whats the go with the Colt running the HQ GTS wheels?

Having a bit of a guess I would imagine early 80's and possibly Sports Car or Sports Sedan or what could have been the start of the category with the flared guards and all. BTW I like the Valiant Pace Car at the back of the grid as well..

definitely sport sedans iirc that gemini had a rotary in it .
nick the colt looks like it has sprint master's on it the design wheel used on lj xu1 torana's

I found some J-tin being raced this weekend. Not much, but it was cool stuff.

The owner insists that this is a '67 SSS Bluebird, is it?

Great pics - thanks for posting them.

This Bluebird is a beautifully prepared car and well driven, too. It was run at the 2010 Monterey Motorsports Reunion along with four other 510's competing in the TA2.5 group. Several of the west coast vintage race sanctioning bodies have a 1967 production date cut off for Production/GT race cars. So if we all enjoy seeing this and possible other Bluebirds/510's in the future, it's best to just nod and say "nice '67". :tu:

My issue is that I have a '69 2L roadster that I would love to race, but no one up here will let me in because its a '69 that looks like a '68, and aside from the windshield, dash and door handles, is the same as as '67.5 2000. HMSA runs down south, VARA runs down south, and CSRG is the only vintage group that I know of who races at Sears Point and Thunderhill. Since I have to drive the car to and from the race, I need to keep it within 2 hrs each way.

The Bluebird is a nice car, but it's likely not a real 67 and there for shouldn't be in there.

It is definitely not a '67. :P

Since the P510 chassis began production with model year 1968, there are some cars in existence with late 1967 production dates. But the Coupe did not debut until the 1969 model year. Therefore the oldest possible Coupes should have production dates in the September 1968 range.

My question is, is it limited to cars whose chassis debuted by 1967 (ergo a '71 Coupe is legit), or cars produced by 1967? judging by your post about the Roadster, guessing it's the latter?

OK dumb question, why do they put tape over the rally car head lights sometimes? Is it for in case they wreck and break?

It is my understanding that it had to be in production in '67. It would be a green light if it were considered a "continuation car" the way a 2L roadster would be, however this is not considered a continuation car. Here is a link to the rules. http://www.csrgracing.org/rulescsrg.html#raceCSRG

I've been told by more than one person that CSRG is a "Boys Club" and if they like you, you are in, if not tough luck. I want to vintage race my car, but these guys are the only ones that I know of who race in Northern California. :|
