owner's daughter bought it brand new in the united states. the car has been abandoned for about 10-20 years now

what car is this? what year was this made?

was this car common in the USA. kinda fun to spot a LHD JNC

As the badge says, Nissan Sentra, from between 1983 to 1986. The hatches were not as common as the coupe/sedan, but were not a rare sight. While very dependable, they were an economy car and the interiors tended to fall apart rather quickly. One of the few cars that was almost cheaper to replace the engine than repair a broken timing belt!

Dicey concept. Are you restoring to sell or to keep?

If it's to keep, only you can say if it's "worth it". If it's to sell, no.

I can't think of any JNC that you could do a proper resto on and turn a significant profit. Not yet anyway...
