Hi everyone!,

There is a sweet 510 for sale close to me and I want to make sure it's not stolen before I check it out. I tried to Carfax the VIN but it's nostalgic & too short for their system. Any other suggestions on how to find out if a car is stolen by VIN #?

The VIN is PL510392817

thats because that code you have is the Chassis number....it is not a VIN number.
I dont know about over there.....but in NZ, older cars dont have VIN numbers....and we have the same problem, cant search them by VIN.....have to search by number plate only

Thats all you get. Just a number. You could try running the plates past the local law enforcement and see what they say.

Just call the Department of Motor vehicles & give them the vin number. Tell them you’re planning on purchasing the following car. You would like to confirm there are no outstanding fee's that are due. Usually that kills multiple birds with one stone as they will give you full history on the vehicle.

Good luck!
