Hello all! I'm 28, live in Victoria, BC, Canada, and could use some advice.

I don't have a Japanese car yet but that looks to be the direction I'm leaning. My situation is this: I just sold my 1969 MGB GT and am looking for my next ride/project. I had the GT for 7 years and used it for auto cross and classic car rallies such as the Spring Thaw. The GT was fast for an MG but I felt that to make the car faster for events meant making it a miserable street car and ruining a beautiful little driver.

I want something that will handle well on the auto cross track and cruise reasonably on the highway without rattling my teeth out. I'd like something reasonably quick to start with that I can build up over time as resources allow. I've looked at a 240z, 1200 Coupe, a Volvo 144s and a 68 Mini. I'm going to look at a 510, a TR6, a BMW 2002Tii, and an e12 BMW 5 series. I do enjoy the thrill of the hunt.

Any advice? I'll post more specific stuff to the Datsun section. Cheers.

In my opinion, if you really liked your MGB GT, you should probably be looking for a 240Z. :tu:

It's sort of a hybrid Japanese/British car.

And it fits all the criteria you set down for a car.

And I'd knock the Datsun 1200 off the list. It fits NONE of your criteria. :P

Thanks for the advice. I was afraid of that. It was such a mint little car for cheap.

Look into the B210(as they're know in the US) aka the Datsun 'Sunny' or Datsun 310. Same body style though. It's not a common car and you can fix it up to throw around the track.

WELCOME :tu:
