Greetings all. I just found this site and joined up.

I recently took ownership of this gorgeous 1987 Isuzu Impulse Special Edition. She's almost 100% all original, save for some tinting and an updated radio.

I purchased the car from the original owner, and I just wanted to share a few pics with the folks on this forum. I know it's not as "vintage" as some of the cars on here, but she is 23 years old! I'm a long time Isuzu geek, and my other vehicles consist of a 2001 Isuzu VehiCROSS and a 1991 Isuzu Trooper. Adding the Impulse to the "collection" just felt normal.

I'm toying with the idea of driving down to Long Beach for the big show. Not sure yet.

Wow that car is nicer than any other Impulse I've seen! Any plans for it?

Thanks!

No plans other than to keep it running good and clean! These cars are getting pretty rare these days....actually very rare....and since this one is so nice and original, I just don't think I can mod it up. It has a few very minor issues that shouldn't take much to fix, but other than that, she's gonna stay just the way she is.

:) Bart

Yup, I mean, just look at those wheels! Not only are white wheels pretty much unheard of nowadays, they are just so cool and retro it makes me feel like watching Tron for breakfast, The Goonies for lunch, Rad for dinner with a few episodes of Miami Vice for dessert, all whist wearing a pink Izod shirt with popped collar!

I love it! And yes, I would LOVE to see it in person in Long Beach. Very 80s retro and super cool :tu:

I'm trying to figure out a way to make it happen. I have a dog and no one at the moment to watch her so I don't know if I can swing it. I really want to though...we'll see.

No dogs allowed at the show or the hotel, otherwise, I would definitely!

Another Japanese White Special - must have been a phase manufacturers of the day went through..........

That is so nice though.

I've had one of these, Isuzu Piazza.

Great machine - lsd in the wet is very interesting!

For a design from early '83-84 (from memory) these were so ahead of anything else IMO.

Yes, it has a very "80s" look. With the white wheels and all, there's just no mistaking the era this car came from. So far I am very happy with the car. She runs good, needs a few bits here and there, but in general, as good as they come. I think it has a rear main seal leak, which sucks, and possibly a pan gasket leak as well. There is wetness in the front of the motor and on the back. So, this winter I might try to tackle all of that. For now, I'm going to live with the leaks as it needs some other stuff first.

Thanks!! And I agree we need more JRs on here! What motor does yours have in it? Is yours a JDM import?

Cheers - Bart

Nice, guys.. I love Isuzu's too, I have three Geminis and a Piazza.

Impulsive, which engine does yours run? Mine's got the 4ZC1-T. How have you guys found the stock LSD? Does it bite hard enough and stay locked? I'm worried it'll slip when I up the power.

If anyone knows of a spare front spoiler, let me know so I can figure out postage.. I want one!

Mine is the 87 RS Turbo, so it has the 2.0L Turbo. I think it is the 4Z as well.

Its a nice, peppy little car and I get much better MPG than my lifted Isuzu Trooper so I am loving it.

I am going to the wrecker tomorrow morning. They say they have an 88 JR. I'm gonna rape it of parts. If you really want a front spoiler, maybe I will snag it for you if it is in OK shape.
