i have a steering box in my car and was thinking of converting it to an ae86 manual rack. does anyone know what i need to do to make this a functional conversion

"i had planned on buying the battle version kit 1 and 2 but then realized its not for my steering setup" those unfamiliar the battle version extends steering ability thus creating better drift angles

Easiest way would be to find an '83 in the junkyard. It shares most of the AE86 front end bits and should bolt right into your car. :tu:

83 is an ae86 right? or is that the ae71?
they seem to crush to many cars where im from so 86's are more common

ok, you will need to do this. get the cross member from an ae71, steering column, and control arms as well. now, from what i was told before. you will have to cut the engine mount brackets that are on the cross member from the te72 and put them on the ae71 cross member.

If you use the AE71 cross member, Steering column, intermediate shaft, and rack and pinion you will have to modify the exhaust manifold of a 3tc. If it was a A series motor like a 4ac or 4ag you would have been fine.

Ive heard that the TE72 gets the same amount of angle as a AE86 with a manual rack, I would really like to clarify this for sure. Do you have a TE72 with power steering?
