I'm a Datsun fan but I've become quite fond of my automatic 3tc tt132 corona

but its getting quite tired and I'm thinking of modernizing it.

I've got some questions about the t series engines i wondered if someone could answer some questions for me?

are the manifolds on 2tg and 3tgte's compatible?
and can you use 2tg pistons in 3tgte's?

I've been thinking i would like to source a 3tge, put some after market high compression pistons for a 2tg in it, and run it naturally aspirated.

could i use the intake manifold and extractors from a 2tg?

I'm not looking for an overly powerful engine. just something that will suit it and run nicely.

do you think it would be worth sorting out a 3tc crank to increase the displacement?
I'm thinking yes.

i already have most manual conversion parts and i know of and am enquiring about a w50 gearbox and a 3tgte long block.

thats about it.

cheers

My cousin's old TT104 (originally RT104) had a 3TG. Pretty sure it was a 3TGTE long motor rebuilt using 3TC pistons, custom cams and dual 40mm Solex's off a 2TG.
There's also a few 3TC/2TG hybrids getting around, using a 2TG head on a 3TC block.

2TG head is better than 3TGTE, normally aspirated

could i use the intake manifold

NO

YES

for a 2TG YES

I remember something way back about a 3Y crank will drop in a 2T block (albeit with a bit of meat carved out) to stroke it out to two litres.
The downside being the 3Y crank is cast while a 2T-G is forged.

Anyone else confirm this?
