I'm going to say no. 8)

Very heavy car for that engine. If you want something more modern, I'd be looking into a 5MGE or 7MGTE, or even a 1JZ/2JZ. :tu:

If a 6 will fit, why put in a 4?

I knew about the 5mge, 7m, 1j and 2j I was just thinking of different options. I was even thinking about the kick ass 1uzfe. My 5me is still kickin hard so there won't be any swaps yet. I've just really liked the 20v haha I well as soon as I decide to do the swap I'll be letting you all know and will be asking more qestions haha.
Thanks for the help

A 1UZ would be an awesome swap in that car. 8)

Does that mean you're still set on the 4AGZE swap?

A 4AG should do pretty well with some SENSIBLE mods. The car may be heavier than the other cars the motor is used in, but with todays advances in modifications, you should be able to get plenty of power to pull the weight. Compared to modern cars with 4bangers the Cressida is actually a lightweight smallish car. However, with this build, if you decide to pursue it, you'll want to focus more on torque than horspower. I say try something different, and if it doesn't work, at least you chose a cheaper motor :D

No torque.

Low RPM 2.8L 6-cyl to high rpm 1.6L 4-cyl...good idea

There aren't many engines cheaper than the 1UZ. :P

I'd bet a solid 1UZ is about half the price of a solid 4AGZE. Plus it's an American engine, as in easy to get parts for and fix. 8)

With the number of wrecked Lexus's I see around the area, I don't doubt that 1UZ's are cheap to get! I happen to like them myself, and if I ever get my hands on an old Crown, that would be the first motor I would think of. I was only saying that he should go for it if he wanted to try something different, I mean, isn't that what started our whole scene in the first place? :)

There was a guy at a local forum here that was selling a complete 1UZ with tranny, ECU, harness and M90 supercharger for $350!

I was going to pick it up but dont know anyone local that can put it in my cressy! So the owner put the motor in a corolla...

Thats a 2tg. And I always would wonder about something like this. I wonder how much of a weight diff. it is from a 4 cylinder and 5 speed compared to a 5m or other 6cyl. A 4ag/t50 is pretty light compared to a 5/7m/Auto. That and you should be able to shed more weight. I say if you want to you should build it!! Y not its your car!!
