. My dad says thanks to all of you for your nice comment!
Welcome aboard JNC.
What a beautiful Crown! Tell us more about her, how may miles she has run, how your dad was able to preserve her in such mint condition. Its like turning back the hands of time.
Oh, well i can tell you what i know about it, the milage on it is around 74.000 miles.
This is a warning! If you´re not interested to know the whole story of this car, stop reading now!
After i finished writing the story below of my dads car i realized that i had written half o novel, so don´t fall asleep reading this if you don´t want to, but i think that the car has a great story to tell, if you want to know how the car ended up looking like this
Well, it all started about 15 years ago, my dad has been a toyota mechanic for over 28 years now, and this car belonged to an old gentleman and his wife who drove it as a daily driver, and my dad was the only one allowed to touch the car, they trusted no other mechanic, and my dad asked the old man every time he took the car in for service if he could sell the car to him, but the old man always said that the car would stay with him till the day he died.
Some years passed, and one day the old lady walked in and asked for my dad. She said that her husband had recently died and asked if he still wanted to buy the car if he promised to take good care of it. So that´s the story of how he got the car.
When he got the car, it was in relatively good shape except for the paintjob and dashboard which was badly eaten by the sun, the chromed parts were dented and pale and the engine were in some need of attention. Other then that the interior and exterior was in perfect condition, the seats are still in mint condition for example, there´s not a single mark or stain on them.
So he repainted the car in the exact same color, that was the easy part. Finding parts for the rest was a whole other story. He wanted to make sure to keep the car with as much original parts as possible, which means parts made in the same decade as the car, no newly manufactured parts. So what does he do? He buys an entire warehouse of old Toyota parts, all still unused in it´s original boxes, never unpacked or touched since the 70´s! That was the only way that he could get a hold of the parts he needed for his car even if it meant that he had to buy parts for 15 other toyota models that he did´nt need.
So around 95% of the entire car is still going with original parts from the same years as the car was manufactured which i think is really cool, it´s hard even to find any kind of parts for that car around here, i don´t know how easy it is in the states tho.
So that´s about it about this car, i can post some more pictures later off the interior and stuff like that if you want to, and also, my dad still has ALOT of new parts for old Toyotas, like Corona, Corolla, chromed bumpers, metal, and lots of small parts if any of you guys need anything för your Toyota, send me a pm, and i will see what he has and we can make a deal and send it to you!
Again, sorry if im just rambling on here, but hey he asked me about the car!
And i hope that my spelling etc. is ok so that you understand what i´m writing here.
