Normally I avoid these types of threads, but here we go... :P

Not finding much online, so anyone have any photos of modified early 80s Celica Coupes? Something like this:

Not trying to derail your thread or anything, but I always wondered what a celica coupe with a celica supra front clip would look like...

This brings up an interesting question: I was under the impression the GT-S version (big Supra-style flares) came with IRS and the flat-side cars were live axle? Did someone swap the IRS into an ST/GT? Or was there a flat-side IRS version sold in Japan/Australia?

I miss my 85 celica GT-S hatch  I still feel it is weird that the Hatchi Roku took the spot light of the "Toyota Sports Car" and the RWD Celica of the 80's get's no respect.

I got the same impression myself. But I wasn't really asking if he did an IRS swap as much as was there a certain model of this car that got IRS but was NOT a GT-S.

And actually, that doesn't really matter either. :P

The real question is, if the car I'm looking at buying is a live axle, can I swap to a Celica GT-S IRS. 8)

Starting to think all the Aussie cars are IRS. That sucks... :x

Here only the GT-S is IRS. The GT I'm looking at buying is a live axle. :?

early *a6* series had live axle I think.

i reckon if you asked the guys on toymods they would be able to tell you if the irs rear end can be fitted to the gt you are looking at.
