Hey yall, I recently got an 81 Corolla TE72. I've been searching for aftermarket parts online but am not sure what is street legal or not. I'm aiming to find a carb and headers. I am aware of the Weber 32/36 already. Is there anything else I need to know?

No not really. Carb and header are the basic bolt on for the T series engines.

Not sure on your particular car, but I would guess that there are no CARB approved parts available for that car. On the AE86, there is exactly one CARB approved part and that is the AEM cold air intake. There are no CARB exhaust parts at all.

I know of a few guys that try to fly under the radar, but if you choose to do that, you risk a BAR ref ticket if you get your hood popped.

hmmmmm, not knowing, but feeling that you might be legal... for isn't Cally a 25 years old state? 81 is well over 25 years old now. You might check with your local CARB office and find out before you drop coin

Unfortunately, one of the benefits of having Schwarzenegger as our governor was that he killed the sliding 25 year emissions rule that used to apply in CA. Currently, all cars 1974 and newer must undergo a smog inspection and test every 2 years.

the only real mod you can do is get a bigger pipe AFTER the cat and run a nice sounding muffler..
