have been piecing together a 2 door AA60 carina over the last few years... nearly done!
Trying to build it in a way that everything looks as factory standard and 80s as possible, try make it look as if everything belongs, despite running some more modern gear for parts of it. So any time I've needed a fuse box, relay box, air filter box, or whatever else, I've gone on a mega mission to find a factory part from some car that's got what I need. (Do you know how hard it is to find an air filter box that sits on the right hand side of the car?!)
Just about on a first name basis with the local pick a part wreckers yards, hahaha.
I have also got a few spare wiring looms from various things, so any time I have needed to extend some wiring I have maintained the factory wire colours... So if there's any problem, you're not looking for a yellow wire with red stripe at one end, and finding it comes out as a blue wire at the other end!
I have had to make a few concessions in the engine bay, in some instances I had to make bits as they werent available for what I wanted to do. It has some aftermarket wheels but apart from that is mostly a mishmash of various factory toyota parts.
I will hopefully have engine started up again tomorrow some time, pulled everything out to paint the engine bay, just been putting everything back in over the last few days.
A few random nuts/bolts to paint black, (I like having everything either paint colour, or blacked out) and some wiring to tidy up, but just about done in engine bay.
The rest of the car still needs a bit of work though, bahaha.
Not too much left to do though.
The engine/drivetrain/brakes/etc are all done, the car is mechanically finished.
I just need to get the car running, iron out any bugs, make sure wheels dont rub on the gaurds or whatever.
Then finish the body work and paint it.
Most of hard work has already been done, stripping shell to bare metal and etch primering took friggen ages!
Not much rust to fix thankfully, but some which would have been hidden and untreated if not for bare metal job.
Cant wait to get it all road legal and start driving it!
