Change of Plans - SHO engine into 73 Toyota Corona Wagon

I bought this 73 wagon on eBay:

currently taking it apart, will paint it and install a roll cage and just the front 2 seats, all the OLD stuff will be scraped, the old 18R-C engine is old, tired and useless, wiring are weak, brake system is weak, etc.

I intend on using it as a daily driver.
I was planning on building a space frame for it but I decided to keep the unibody intact instead.

yesterday I bought another vehicle on eBay for cheap, just for the engine, the engine is a work of art and was built by Yamaha for Ford, DOHC 3.0 liter, yes, the 220HP SHO engine

Yes, I will have to make an adapter to mate it with a T5 tranny and make it a RWD, like the one in this Healey:

Ha, that looks like a great project and, I would guess, a never-before seen drivetrain/body combo. Great song too. Got it stuck in my head now.

OK, finally done with some classes I had going, time to get back in the garage and continue working on Project SHOrona.

a couple of weeks ago:

Is that a mazda engine anyway? The 3 liter ford probes use mazda engines... I mean that would be totally cool in my book, i never liked ford :mrgreen:

Yamaha engine (made in Japan, for a Supercar that never materialized) installed in a Ford Car but I will install it into a 73 Toyota Corona.

The engine is a Ford designed shortblock with a top end and assembly by Yamaha. The block is very similar to a 3.0 Vulcan block, with some improvements to withstand the extra RPM and HP.

Take the DIS module end of the plenum and swap it with the TB end for RWD...though you probably already figured that out. :lol:

Why don't you just use a 3.0 Vulcan RWD tranny like the Mazda unit that comes int he Ranger and B3000?

If you want to do the T5 swap, this guy makes an adaptor that you can bolt to the back of a mid-80's Aerostar/Ranger 2WD M/T bellhousing and use the long input ('94-'95 5.0 Mustang) T-5 with. He also does spacers for the runners to the lower.

I've had a couple of those cars...both 2nd gens. One MTX and one AXOD. As well as a SVO and other Ford oddities.
