Got the suspension done last weekend and drove it to Seattle for the XXX Burger meet. Awful car meet experience, but the car handled well!! The stiffer springs really make a difference, but nowhere near as much as the extra strut travel provided by the shorter upper hats and the much much shorter sw20 front struts. I know, most people use sw20 rear struts for the front, but I decided to go with an inexpensive and very short (2"+ shorter than factory)
front KYB oem replacement strut insert, and so far it suits the type of driving I do well. Paired up with 8k front Eibach ground control springs (from T3), and 9k Eibach springs in the rear with KYB monotube Camaro shocks, I get no excessive bounce and actually a fairly comfortable ride considering my engine crossmember is now roughly 1.5" off the ground. Also running the T3 RCAs; I had no bump steer before, but I could see where the tie bars had been slamming against my frame, so now that I'm lower up front, I'm sure it would have been more of a problem without them installed. I'm pretty happy with the setup, but I still think the upper hat system that T3 uses is strange and potentially problematic as it more or less pins the strut at a 90° angle to the camber plate. While it does allow a bit of pivot, it puts the extra load on outward facing section of the spring. I don't like it.
Anyway, here's some pics. I raised the rear up roughly 1" and brought the front down atleast 1". Kind of has a raked out look from bringing the rearend up, but it's nice being able to have passengers again!
