Hello!
I have after some years of searching for a nice 70s japanese 2dr car found this beautiful car about 300 meters from my garage. The old lady that owns it got it in the mid 70s and its been driven around 150000km. I have been told she wants me to have it when it comes back from a mechanic who is rebuilding the brakes.
Its in overall good condition, in the late 80s some rust were fixed and the car was repainted (not original color). I havent really found any rust, but havent been able to look underneath yet.
So, pretty soon we will be discussing the pricetag for this beauty, and I have NO idea. Dont think the lady knows either.
There is maybe 2 others in the country, and even though its not perfect, I'm pretty sure none of them are in this good condition.
A 70's Corolla with low miles and in good shape goes for around 2000usd around here, but this is so much more rare.
Do anyone know what a fair price would be?
Do anyone know special things to look for on this model?

Best regards
Fege

Last RT72 I saw here went for $4000 aus dollar with rust and spares. Mechanically they're workable with many other parts save suspension, make sure panels, trim and glass are ok or if they're not check that they can be reproduced as spares are rare.

I feel I cant say too much about that right now, Im sure there are members on here from my country who wants this car too. But I can say its in northern europe. But does it really matters, isnt this a pretty rare car everywhere?

Pseudonym:
Thank you, about the same money as i was thinking. Is the suspension unique for this model? The glass is in good condition but the rubber around it is a little rough in some places. I know that is really hard to fint.

Yeah glass will come up second hand time to time, rubbers are a tricky one. I haven't tried any work on mine yet, but I'd say the rear live axle leaf design could be similar to the 4 door or even corolla, but the front is a strange upper and lower wishbone with spring and shock within, think the sedan has the same setup. EBay has shocks springs and joints, bushings may need to be custom.

Thanks for the info.

The workshop are having trouble finding the right parts for it, apparently need new brake cylinders. I can find a lot on ebay, but can i trust ebay that the parts really fit even though it says it does? (the "fits 1970 toyota corona base" text) Anyone with experience?

I'm working on the brakes on my car and I found some caliper son rock auto
the ones that say mark ii are the only ones that are the same
the ones that say base are for the regular corona rt 9#
I bought the master on ebay just make sure it has the two bolt oval base

On the note of how much its worth I paid
1800usd for my late 70 rt72 which some one stripped of all options ac heater etc.

1000usd for my late 71 rt73 which is missing the transmission and front bumper and passenger side grill and came with a four speed top shift transmission no bell housing.

600usd for my 69 rt72 parts car which has a lot of rust also missing the auto trans but got a dogleg for speed out of the deal
So it all depends what it's worth to you and the condition it's in

Thank you corona cad!

What is the difference between the rt72 and rt73?

Do you have any parts for sale?

I would like to find this type of grille, with the thin pillar in the middle:

And also some fender mirrors, anyone who knows if there are any model-specific mirrors for the rt72?

thats a good little care to come up on. I got a RT80 72 corona from the older gentleman across the street from my gf house. It had some rust and a shit paint job over the original white.
Parts are extremely hard to find for both of our cars. but hitting up local pick a parts might help you find stuff. If you do find on are a parts place, make sure you grab the bumpers, fenders, lights, shit grab everything you can because its hard to come across them again. I got lucky and found a complete car so i took lights, bumpers, and front fenders and the grill.

I paid 1100 for mine but it wasn't in the best shape body wise, not dents but paint was done and has rust spots here and there. but it was drivable and I drove it to work daily 60 miles each way.

Thank you corona cad for your info!

So, Now I know exactly what parts it need replaced. Front discs and pads, wheelcylinders in the back, brakeshoes(?) and kit to install it. And also the support bearing for the shaft between the gearbox and rear axle. Can someone help me find this on rockauto.com? I dont really know what it is called. :-(
