I sold my 2012 WRX STI Hatchback.

Image

and bought this

It had lots of recent engine work (fresher 5GME swaped in and the engine bay went through, transmission went through, diff re-sealed. hasn't leaked a drop in the 1000 miles i've driven it).

Image

I could not park it in my drive way - The STI at stock height needed to be backed in to
avoid scraping.

Image

When I bought the cressida it had no exhaust beyond the cat and was trying to poison me - so I installed a exhaust.

Image

I removed the exhaust for fear of some drunk bicycler coming down my hill and killing themselves - i replaced it with a removable flange attached to a harley davidson chrome
exhaust pipe from my motorcycle. (exhaust shown in next picture)

With that taken care of - I needed to make the car capable of parking in my drive way.

After removing the front springs that were installed in the rear spring perch - from god knows what vehicle.

I made some spring insulators out of a spacer cut in half

Cut a 13" 5.0" OD Nascar 400# spring to 11"

Installed AGX springs from a camaro 1982-02

Got the fender tack welded together with help from a friend
Image

Re-installed the 15x10 195/50R15 wheels and drove it 90 minutes home (i was in sacramento)

Then i had some 295/50R15 tires installed

and after adjusting my headlights

I can back into my drive way

I'm getting some help from hotrodders in sacramento - want to build some widebody fenders out of steel.

Dreaming of new front suspension as it's blown to shit and so the ride is very unfriendly to organs.

It drives much better than it did, especially on our nasty norcal highways and the busted streets of oakland.

It's not ready to take any jumps yet.... *j/k* :D

Experimenting with making fiberglass on foam at home

wooo!

Talked to Gabriel from techno-toy-tuning and my order is in on a new front suspension. Very excited.

I haven't been able to drive the car for a week as the suspension bushings looked like they were about to blow and so I parked it while I wait for parts.

Getting the new suspension on will give me room to play again!

On the plus side - it gave me time to get my motorcycle working.

Hey brother, You need a full headlight housing? I saw one at a junk yard up in windsor ca. they have a 83 sedan in amazing shape - the outer lens on the driver side is cracked however.

Maybe a road trip? :D I may be back up there at some-point in a month - its about an hour and a half away for me.

Yay!

Thanks to TechnoToyTuning i'm gonna have some proper ride on the front of my wagon with 500 in/lbs 8" springs coilovers with camber plates and pillow balls.

The Ms and I will get these in the car Tomorrow morning!

Took a while longer to get the suspension in - one of the t3 coilovers had a bent spindle - Gabriel was super fine in both getting that replaced and also making some height adjustments to the shock inserts so that I could run the car higher that the 4" drop the default coilovers come with.

Here she is running 265/50R15 on 15x10 -20 on front and 295/50R15 on 15x10 -28 on rear.

Curvy mountain drive is good fun, seats are terrible for me (6'4") .

Have also a new cold start sensor and a new oil pressure gauge sensor (recall from 1985) in the car.

Idle started hunting when it's sitting at 650rpm - could be bad gas from a lower octane fill-up, a vacuum leak or a bad coil. Runs smooth at above 1000rpm.
