I'm in the middle of swapping my mx73 and have a couple issues. I am using a w58 from a mkII supra, and a mkIII drive shaft. I have seen pics in line of people doing the same swaps and mine is not looking the same. The trans is about an inch forward in the chassis, and the drive shaft carrier bearing is not matching the chassis holes. Can someone provide some insite for me?

fix your images by using the [img] image tags

1. i've seen a mkiii w58 in an x7 and the shifter lines up perfectly. mkii has a different shifter housing. you might want to try and find the right one vs. cutting your trans tunnel, the shifter will be banging your console in current position.

2. on my x8, i reused the auto trans crossmember with the supra isolator bolted to it. i'm assuming you should be using your auto crossmember too, and it might need to be flipped 180° to make the bolt holes line up.

^ what he said. You can use the MkII W58, but the MkIII is a perfect fit. I believe that the crossmember does need to be rotated, but can't remember, it has been a few years since my last swap.
