Car doesn't have to have flares, but will help. Those Rotas will be a very aggressive fitment. Will need a fender roll and/or pull at least. If your car isn't aggressively lowered and run low-profile tires, it will look like a monster truck.

If you pull it off, it will look excellent

Go with the Proxies, and run 195s

You building the car for show? Because the R888s or AO48s are "race" tires, and are a bit much for a street car.

Btw, my 71 Celica is on R888s. Current driving it on the streets, but waiting to get it set up for autox.

How is driving your car with the R888s on the street?

With that wide rims you would problably need some tyre stretch. And the r888 and such do not stretch well because of their very stiff sidewalls. i would chose a street tyre for stretch or go with flares.

R888s come in 235/50/15, could easily fit without stretching on 15x9s

Yes of course, but then he needs flares or monster truck height.
Ive got 15x7 with offset around 0 and 195 tyres, and mine needed a roll. Thats a 70 corona mark II lowered 40mm tho.

Here is my wife's 73 Corona Mark2 with Enkei92s 15x7 0 offset. Yes it rubbed in the back with the stock height/suspension.

-Ya no flares on this one.
-Show with limited dry weather use.

-I have the 14x7 supra rims on temporarily now.185/60/14----205/60/14.See pics..
-I measured 4.25 inch backspace on them.So they are a 3 inch positive offset?

-I don't want to roll the fender lips.But will tire stretch if I can.

-I like the BF G force also. :tu:

-I have all 4 adjustable coilovers.

-So I need to avoid negative offset wheels.So a a positive 15 offset wheel should fit well??15x8 and 15x9.

I believe that would abe a +6 offset, or 6mm positive offset.

-OK I will stick with a positive offset wheel as I don't want wheel flares.

-I like the RKR case it is the best copy of the Watanabe I have seen.The Rota RB is close but has rounded spokes.

-I would go with the Bf G force tire but could not find there 15 inch tire sizing guide.Tire rack had just 2 18 inch sizes and one19 inch.

-I could not find the 15 inch size lineup on the BF goodrich site either?Are the G-force tires hard to get?

-Rite now the 14 inch rims with 60 series tires are a good fit so if i switch to 15 inch rim and a 50 series tire that should all fit well also?

-Im kinda lost with trying to do all the different wheel and car fitment measurements.

The celica has no floor insulation, so I hear everything that the R888s pick up from the road. The tires are sticky, so it picks up a lot of stuff. There is also a very, very slight hum.

Backspace is in inches. Offset is usually in millimeters. Lets stick to Offset to keep it simple.

Stock Celica/Supra rims are 14x7 +8 offset, IIRC.

With a 15x8 +15 for the front, the rim will stick out just a tiny bit from the fenders. If you don't want to stick past fender, a 15x8 +20 would be better fit.

With a 15x9 +15 for the rear, it will stick way out of the rear fenders. A 15x9 +32 or +35 would stay inside the rear fenders.

See if you can test fit the rims before buying them.

The visual diagram on this site is really helpful for working out clearances and such - the one thing you can't really know until you fit is how they interact under suspension movement.

http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?wi ... 20#content

I found just a couple of steel rulers gave me a good indication for the available space, the trick is finding rims in the exact specs AND finding tires to fit. The general rule is you work out your tire sizing first for your speedo and clearance then pick the rim - I think street tires had something like 10mm of play for fitting to rims before it got crazy.

This page is awesome;
http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg4.html

And this one is also useful for picking tires;
http://www.ajdesigner.com/fl_tire/tire.php

Personally I wouldn't use triple 8s as they pack a $%Q#ton more grip than these cars were designed for - actually knew a guy who bent his steering arms on an S13 running them on the front for a drift meet, so if you have a habit of doing 120kmh scandis maybe don't use semi slicks lol. That said, absolutely awesome tires - stop you in the wet like they have hairdriers built in - but they harden up after 12 months + and age out.

-Alright i ran the numbers on the different fitment sites(thanks).Utube had some good vids. also.

-I understand most all of it and will give my self an education in wheel sizing.

-The 15 inch RKR dont show such positive offsets +30 +35 but they do with the 17 inch rim sizes.

-I just liked the look of the track/comp. tires.No race or track for this car just around town and show.

-I've looked at a lot of rims over the past year and keep coming back to the RKR's.I cant spend $2000 on just rims and they look just so rite. :tu:

-Does this wheel have a positive offset of 36, theres no plus/minus posted in the description? ---->Rota Grid 15 x 9.0 4 x 114.3 e36

-Why are there 2 numbers for the offset measurement in this description?---->Rota RKR 17 x 8.5 4 x 114.3 e+10 to +20

Typically, if there's no + or -, it's best to assume it's +. :tu:

Also, links to where you saw them may help decipher. :wink:

Yep, generally if it's negative offset they will specify, most cars are positive.

I'd assume two numbers is referring to either a set of 4 wheels with staggered offsets, ie, +10 for rears and + 20 for fronts, or they just have two offset options for that size and style and you specify which you want on ordering.

-OK I got it pretty well figured out.Looks like if I want the RKR's with the + offset I need I would have to get the 17 inch rims.
not sure if they would be too big?

-You learn all this stuff and don't use it enough to remember it. :?

-Rota makes a 15x9 0 offset, this may be the way to go for the rear.
