Hi Guys and Girls,

First post here.

Just thought I would share some pics of my new ol school ride I bought last week from a guy here in QLD, nice guy.
He was pretty emotional about selling the car. And I know why.....I love it!!!

- It's a 1969 2 door Corolla KE18 wagon.

- Engine is a 4K from an KE70.

- Gearbox is also KE70 5 speed.

- Rising Sun roof decal professionally fitted.

- Thermo fan

- Extractors to stock exhaust (quiet)

- Lowered 2" blocks in rear with KE70 top hats in front.

- 13x7 +10 Dragway Wheels with 175/50 tyres.

- SAAS woodgrain steering wheel and gear knob.
(New OMP steering wheel and quick release ordered and fitting soon)

- Temp, tacho and volt gauges.

- H4 semi sealed headlights with mesh covers.

- Bullet style fender mirrors.

- Darkest legal tint all round.

- Re-trimmed interior, not perfect but still damn good looking.
(headliner is original and a bit ratty).

- Original TEQ key!

- Old style roof rack.

- KE35 retractable seatbelts.

Future plans are to upgrade engine to possibly 4AGE 20V, new wheels (14 inch), full respray and suspension upgrade.

PS: Ol school Stickers!!! Would like some suggestions for hot wheels for the KE18 (pics welcome)

Hope you all enjoy these pics I took today.

Cheers,
Steve

You bought that from Reed off RollaClub. Awesome little car, his build thread was good. I love it, if I was in QLD I would've bought it off him! Good buy. I really don't think he wanted it gone.

Hi Mark,

Yeah Reed is a top guy. I flew to Brisbane from NSW and met him at the airport.
He was sad to let go of it. But I told him I would look after George for him and he was happy.

All I've done so far is clean the shit out of it. Machine cutting the paint next weekend.

I'm in love with it already. Gets plenty of attention when you drive it.

Any suggestions for 14" rims. I'm thinking lots of chrome, but old school of course.

Had a couple of Corolla's with 4AGE 20V's I transplanted (AE82 Seca & AE92 Seca) but I think this will be my fav by far......it's rare and appreciated wherever you go. :D

Yeah it's got lots of character that's for sure, that's what I love about my old Toyota ;) I like the drag ways that are currently on it. I think they suit it really well! Maybe look through other threads and find some inspiration for wheel choice.

Cool Car Bud! i also believe that ssr mk II or III's would look trick on this. Even xr4 longchamps would do the job also. Most old school jap wheels look good imo!

This is the first time I see a two door KE wagon period. It looks amazing. Will definitely do my research to see if we got those in the US. I know of the second gen corolla 2 door wagon but not the first gen.

Thanks man.....Yeah not sure about the US market, but only about 300 were shipped to Australia and I know of only about 3 or 4 left here.

I love that it's a 2DR wagon and I get lots of attention from admirers when I drive anywhere. Lots of thumbs up :tu: and waves.

cheers,
Steve

Wow, I've never seen one of these before! So unique and I love the funky wheels that match the overall theme. :tu: :tu:

I'd be tempted to cut the C pillar out and get custom one piece glass for the rear side windows!

Wow...Thanks Doraiba, I thought you being in Japan, the home of Toyota you would have seen a few 1969 KE18 2DR wagons around......now I'm beginning to think my ride is very unique!!! :tu:

Unfortunately, there aren't too many 1980s or older cars left in Japan. A lot have been recycled or exported due to the high costs of owning/registering older cars in Japan and the national steel shortage crisis in the 80s/90s. You do indeed own a very special and rare car.

Thanks Jason and toywagon for the comments :tu: ....I'm starting to think my KE18 is rarer than I thought. :D

Anyone spotted one at all? I only know of 3 in Australia. And already found out very rare in Japan now too.

Drove to Sydney today to buy a cut and polish kit.........want to get the paint back to awesome for a car show/meet in Sydney in about 4 weeks. So I'll be spending about 12hrs sometime soon.....Cutting, sealing, washing, polishing and waxing. Not looking forward to the job, but keen to see the result.

$350AUD well spent.....lets hope.

Never been a fan of wood finish steering wheels so have bought a OMP old school style steerer and a Sparco quick release in black and red.

Old wheel I wasn't keen on. :td:

New deliveries today......
