Picked up this ugly turd 1972 Toyota Carina Deluxe in July 2014. The 2tc starts up right away but the auto trans was dead. Others look at the car and see a turd bucket, but I saw the car and saw tons of potential, so I had to buy it. My Corona was in just as bad shape when i purchased it over two years ago.

So far I haven't done much to it other than take apart the front end to try and straighten it out and i pulled the auto trans. I purchased a 2tc flywheel, clutch kit, and t50 transmission for it, but it didn't include the clutch fork or throw out bearing carrier. And i still haven't been able to find one. So now I'm saying f*** it, I'm just gonna Beams it.
In case you don't know what a "Beams" is, it's the Black Top "Beams" 3S-GE from the 97-05 Toyota Altezza's in Japan with the J160 6sp Manual Transmissions.

So this is the beginning of the story of the ugly duckling that's going to be kicked sideways at PARC (Portland, OR) and EVD (Monroe, WA) in the near future.

I'm going to be pulling the running 2tc out this weekend. And it will be for sale for cheap cheap cheap, as well as the T50, clutch kit, flywheel. I am located in Renton, WA in case you are interested, PM me.

Ordering the Beams very soon.

My other car is the red "Bloody Mary" 1977 Toyota Corona. I drift it at PARC and EVD with a slightly modded 20R, and i deliver pizzas in it as well as drive it to college everyday.

The beams seems like a decent engine. They are abundant on the import engine list. Good luck with the new project.

I'd have kept sliding the rona tbh, just for the parts availability (or maybe carinas are more abundant in the states?) and suspension, but the beams is a great engine - should spin a tire on wet grass :D

Love the rona roof rack btw :)

Nice score! The Carina is one of my favorites and looks great slammed on the ground with some flares. Can't wait to see this come together.

Carinas are so cool! Congrats.

Beams engine will be terrific. Can't wait to see progress with that swap
