1988 Toyota Sprinter SE saloon

Chassis code : AE91 sedan
Engine: LASRE 5A
Powertrain configuration: FF
Transmission: Manual 5 speed

Interior: Maroon
Glass: Brown

This car was imported to the Philippines from Japan in 1995. Originally the car is white, so ill repaint it back to white.
Originally it was a RHD, it was now converted to LHD. The dashboard is original LHD. has power steering and power mirrors. Quite rare here as I have only seen three of these in my life time.

Parts are ready and the car is ready for restoration. Parts were taken from a JDM 1990 Sprinter GT sedan.

Hopefully I plan it too become like this!*

*(Picture above is not mine, i just borrowed it from the net for inspiration)

I'm still looking for a shop to help me restore it. If i cant find one, I'll restore it myself.

test fitted the parts and peeled of the old paint....literally the old re spray paint easily peeled off using a scraper. though some portions of the paint are still tough to scrape.

looks good!

New front looks great! We've got these in Sri Lanka as well, but they're becoming rare now.

Nice!, based on your inspiration pic's I can probably tell you're gonna paint it white. Are you planning to keep it stock or do an engine swap in the future?

the car's original paint is Toyota 040 white. It will be restored to its original color. engine is still OK most likely i'll keep it that way for a while.

Right hand drive vehicles are not allowed to be driven on local roads. Land transportation office (LTO) will slap you a P 50,000 pesos ( more than $ 1,000.00 US dollars) fine if you get apprehended. And RHD cars wont pass registration procedures.

I was planning to restore it back to RHD previously, but common sense tells me I wont be enjoying driving the car if i did so.

I see, thanks for the info! I was wondering, since my uncle has an Evo IV that he regularly drives around in Pasay. Then again, that was a while back (in the late 80's or early 90's). Anyway, for all the work going on, your car's gonna look great!
