Heyo, about a month ago i decided to start restoring one of my dads old crowns, he had a plan about restoring it 10 years ago, but he had enough else to do and he just put it away along with the other cars...
keep in mind that im only 16 years old and english is my secondary language ;)
first day...
Image
had some flats so i decided to change to some chrome wheels that where just laying in the barn ..
Image
Image
engine has run 460 000kms 8) but dad had a total overhaul of the car in '83 new paint, som new engine components, engine fully overhauld, so ready for 400 000 km more
Image
interior stripped, everything is laying in another garage 200meters away form the barn where thees pics where taken :)
Image
i have a little porblem... all this crap is in the way.. you can see the wagon sligtly in the left bottom...
Image
from the other side, my wagon infront of the red one
Image
Image
huston we got a problem..
Image
the red wagon is missing something..
Image
this shit aint moving...
Image
had to jack the back end of my wagon out and squeez it between the wall and the other car...
this vid is explaining it :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cK0mMAlL ... r_embedded
then i realized i got no clutch... so i found some old clutch master cylinders and piston and started playing and experimenting :)
old clutch piston to the right "new" to the left, stole it from one of dads builds
Image
Image
done!
Image
afer a shit load of bleeding the clutch it was finaly running :D
found a crappy old seat and bolted in teperarly
Image
started sanding....
Image
decided to use the angel grinder on the sides... dad had masked of for black pin stripes then painted like 20 layers of more paint above, so i had to sand dow A LOT of paint to get i even, so i decided to do it like this instead
Image
took the other side aswell
Image
Image
took the hood aswell had some scary bubbles on it, the hood was of a donor car due to the one that was on my car originaly had some damage..
Image
Image
then i was done and decided to move the car to our welding shop.. only problem, we have to fucking many cars.... cant have all at the same place, luckly we got a car trailer :)

RUST RUST RUST!

Image
Image
then me ( wit no knowledge in welding rust what so ever) started welding rust...
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
checked my brakes aswell
Image
forgot to put the wheel on before lowering it..
Image
then i started welding...
from this
Image
to this
Image
random pic... dad all of a sudden arriveed and let me take the '69 sedan for a spinn :P
Image
Image
more rust welding
Image
8) keep in mind done by a 16 year old ;)
Image
Image
partly finished
Image
partly finsihed another hole, bore i forgot to remove my chair before lowering the car ... do i have alzheimers?
Image

been doing some more
found some more rust behind this one..
Image
cut it out
Image
new plates
Image
found some more on the other side
Image
Image
got my amplifier yesterday, did some work today, still waiting for my speakers..
found this board Dad made a lot of years ago to have his cassette player and amplifier in , he made it fit right above the windscreen , and here it is :)
Image
nstalled a on/off switch on the right , then dad had installed a clock that were there when i found the board, then i installed a light to indicate that the amplifier is getting power, to prevent letting it stand with power on.. then the amp itself..
Image
at it place, being hold by my hand, kind of hard taking a pic with the other hand
Image
Image
the rocket science...
Image
and a little video wit han old 5W speaker that is blown...

Fantastic project! Very cool to see these old cars saved

Would you be willing to take a photo of the splines of that aftermarket steering wheel boss/hub ?

I am searching for one that will work with my MX12 Corona MKII.

Thanks

thanks :) i cant get anything done due to the welding equippment has broken down, waiting for new parts form England...
but the hub... i cant take a pic.. iv already installed it.. but here is the picture of it that the seller took :) http://www.ebay.com/itm/271014687613?ss ... 1497.l2649
i only costs AU $7.09 so, its worth the chance :) and i would guess it will fit your car, due to a 1976 toyota crown steering wheel fits my car... and i dont think toyota made diffrent steering wheel mounts for the diffrent cars...
anyways here is some pics...

That's terrific, thanks so much for sharing that link.

I bought a boss that was advertised to work with my car, but the splines were much too fine and too numerous to fit the steering column of my MX12.

Thinking about hacking up the stock wheel and bolting that to the boss I've got.

Can't wait for more progress photos of your kickass projects.

Tore -looks really great.
How is it progressing?
I just got back from a 500km round trip to buy a set of aluminum wheels.
16x8,6 inches with 225/45 and 245/45 tyres on it.
Tried the 245/45 on the back but while they clear on the inside I think I have to try with the 225/45.

Sweet looking Honda CB. I have a few posts in the motorcycle section. Any videos of it? Love your old honda cub too.
