How come I haven't seen any old school Toyota's get seam or stitch welding. I briefly looked into either options for chassis rigidity and know the difference, but more so haven't seen any Toyota's get welded as such. Am I asking a crazy question? I do a lot of research and constantly find new things to look into.

Browse around a bit, there are a few examples of guys doing this.

I think realistically that seam welding is best left for dedicated caged race or rally cars. You really then have to consider the shell as disposable with potential failures in unexpected areas. Serious comp cars are continually being carefully assessed up on hoists etc whereas on a daily type car, issues may be missed.

Stich weld is easier, and does not pump that much heat into the body parts.
