Hello JNC! This thread is about my recently acquired Supra. It's a Naturally Aspirated Automatic. The only thing that bothers me is the automatic. Though, it was cheap and runs incredibly well. Eventually I might do a manual swap, I'm thinking W58 if that would fit.

It is a super fun car, I usually hate the thought of Automatic sports cars but this was $700 and I couldn't let it get away. It was listed late last night, 50 people (including myself) called the owner today, and I was one of only two people to look at the car. The other one looking at it actually got to where the owner lived the same time I did, though I was the first one to pull out any money. I had a AW11 MR2 before this, I miss that car but this seems like so much more in a way.

W58 will fit just fine. You will need the front half of the driveshaft from the donor car as the auto driveshaft is a different length. W58s are pretty plentiful, so it shouldn't be hard to locate one. Nice MkIII! Looks like a nice starting point.

those rust spots look pretty bad. what do the frame rails and subframe look like? i'd make that priority over w58 swap.

Thank you! You are right, there are quite a few W58s for sale near me, more than I expected.


The rust spots aren't as bad as they look actually, the frame rails are good and the subframe is fine. The only rust spot I am concerned about is on the passenger side quarter panel, it's a small hole. Though I've located a quarter panel that I am thinking about buying.
