I picked up a 71 MS55 a while back and when i started working on it i noticed the brake master cylinder is leaking from the rear seal (inside the car). I was wondering if any other toyotas would interchange parts, i went to see about getting a new one or a rebuilt kit but no luck. Any info on interchanging parts or where to get a new or rebuild would be appreciated.

All I can come up with is master cylinders up to '70, if those will work i will order one tomorrow ($15) just unsure on it working. robakun, do you know the NAPA part number, or can you look it up from when you bought it, if i have that i can go to my local NAPA and get one. I just want to get a new one so i can drive it some before the weather turns bad

The MS55 is tricky because '71 is a split year. Early '71 is S5 Crown, late '71 is S6 Crown. So the large majority of parts you need will be from a '67-70 Crown. Most of the '71 parts will be S6 stuff (usually says '71-74).

Luckily for you, your car has the bigger S6 car's engine, but all the consumables should be the same as a '70. :tu:
