I picked this up this weekend for $250. It's been sitting for a few years, so I hope not to have any big issues with getting it running again. I do have some questions for 3TC guys, I pulled the plugs and there was oil in each one. Am I correct to assume that the spark plug tube seals are bad or is there a bigger issue. I've only ever worked on 20R and 22R. Also, if anyone has the valve cover bolt torque specs, that would be great! Any advice is much appreciated!! Here are some pics. Not pretty, but better than being scrapped! Some of the pics are bad, it was getting dark and the phone flash didn't work too well...

Was it the engine side of the plugs or the wire side that was covered in oil?

If the wire side, the it may just be the rubber that seals the VC tubes to the head.

Just change all fluids/oils before trying to get her running regularly. The 3T in my car I let sit with oil and open intake ports for 2 years and the damn thing started right up after changing oil, using fresh fuel and quick tune up.

Not too shabby for $250. GL on getting it running.

Got it running yesterday! I had to replace the starter (whose idea was it to put it under the exhaust manifold??) and valve cover gasket (I couldn't believe the crap that was under there!), add some coolant and prime the carb with gas. She fired right up! Won't idle and runs like crap, so I'm sure I have a carb rebuild in the near future. I'm starting to really like the 3TC! I hope to have some good tires and the carb going in the next few weeks (if we don't turn into a deep freeze up here).

Good luck with this one. I would love to get my hands on a TE70 Corolla wagon that is a manual. The price is just unreal. :D
