Rear DIY coilovers

Here is an interesting idea that I will probably be doing. Its off of another site, but It will work for us too.

I will probably put these on a custom 4 linked axle. I think these will go well with a set of shortened and adjustable AE86 struts.

That seems a bit sketchy. You'd really have to beef up the shock mounts, they aren't made to support the weight of the car. Idk if I'd trust this to be honest.

Edit: idk if 510s have struts out back or shock/spring setups, so I may be wrong. I'd still be careful running a shock as a strut in either case.

very true. Reinforcement will definitely be needed. I own a TE31, so in my case I would probably be putting a 4 link + watts link in ditching the leaf springs.

Well techno toy tunning makes a rear coilover shock set-up for the AE86 & for the KP61 starlet & thet both mount in the stock location with out any reenforcement needed! So the set-up in the Ratsun forum should work in the AE86, TE72 or a KP61..
