Hi all,
I`m Jose from the Canary Islands in Spain.
A year ago, looking for a car to restore myself, I found this Toyota Corona Mark II Coupe 1975 (RX22).
It was forgotten in a garage more than 16 years. After inspecting it and check that had a solid chassis with little rust, I decided to take it home.
I have a lot of work ahead and will be a hard road but will try to enjoy this challenge.
Here are some photos of the beginning.
Greetings from this corner of the Atlantic.

I'd love to find something like that in a barn  Nice find.

My brother is on Fuerteventura. Weather is much nicer there than here.

I'm looking forward to seeing this one come together, good luck with the restoration.

Your brother is lucky, enjoying the best beaches in Europe. 8)
Although we are now upset with the decision of the government to make oil exploration near the coast.

Thanks for your support

Welcome to the world of Mk2 Corona - or as it's known in some circles "The Greatest Treasure Hunt in the History of the World".

Looks like a great find - be sure to keep poking around on here and at toymods.org. There are a few people around the place with the various types of Mk2 coupe who can help with queries. Depending on how you look at it you've got a plus in the 18r engine, I see a lot more mods and parts for those online than the M series 6 cylinders.

Planning to restore it to original or make some modifications?

I'll keep that in mind, sure I'll need a lot of help.

The plan for now is to restore completely and add some power with a new camshaft (nothing extreme) and a new carburetor (possibly a weber I've seen out there).
In fact, currently the engine is already in the machine shop.

Thanks.

nice find..... :tu:

Just a thought(brainfart really)..... what about a slightly newer engine??

If your intention is a PURE, ORIGINAL restoration this isn't really an option

Bare with me.... I was thinking an early 1GGE... twin cam, 2.0 straight 6. In stock form it plants 140-150hp, and 120-135#/ft of torque. The 1G engine is lighter then the M series, and may even be lighter then the 18R. If you want a bit more power, there is always the twin turbo version, the 1GGTE it can bump stock power levels to 200/200.

1GGE being installed in an RA40 Celica - http://users.tpg.com.au/users/loats/tec ... rsion.html

brainfart over........

Oh man,
the truth is that it is very tempting   , but for now I'll keep the 18r.
maybe later consider an engine swap.
But my choice would be something like this:

Call me classic :)

I have to say I'm going to do everything myself, so it will be an amateur restoration.

Welcome to our playground...

Your Mark II is super cool! I love the colour.
Making quick progress on that resto too.
Oh, and nothing wrong with being "classic" as you put it. A 18R-G would indeed be an awesome choice if you ask me!
Then you just need some "GSS" decals down the side in a nice contrasting colour, and a set of small but PHAT Wats under the arches and you're truly in business sir...

Thank you 02Anders ,
Congratulations for your Trueno too, what a beautiful machine  .
The Trueno also sold here in the islands, and you can still see some, especially in classic rallies.
It´s being fast because I started a few months ago
