Just a quick random story from today, and about how awesome Toyota is!
It all began with tearing apart the 4M the other day on the MX29, had a few parts in the back of my daily car, only to realize that when the engine gets back from the machine shop, ill be needing a starter, alternator, and other misc. Parts. So I go into the auto parts store, looking for the alternator since I had that with me. Just for laughes, I jokingly get the alternator bench tested. First off, it's the original alternator from 1972, and the car has been sitting since 1984.
So the alternator is coming up on its 40th b-day, gets tossed up on the bench tester, and passes with flying colors. Perfect output of 14.7. This is all with about a 1/16 of an inch of dirt on the whole alternator. I get it retested about 5 times, and each time is 14.7. I could not believe it. Diodes, rectifier, everything was perfect. Saved me $40 bux!
Gotta love Toyota! They really don't make them like they used too...
