my corolla has eaten my head.. twice now.. when various stick devices slip while holding the trunk up..

the arm as seen below is hanging down.. and the springs are in place, as best as i can tell.. but the only way the arm can reach the spring.. it's not right, it moves the spring up towards the parcel shelf and stalls when the trunk is still half open..

The previous owner of my KE15 got a little inventive. I saw these small pieces of wood jammed in amongst the springs and pulled them out. The trunk lid promptly fell on my head. Put them back in and voila, it stays up.

I gather it improves the spring tension. Whatever, it works

can anyone with a te72 or ke70 or what ever.. with a working trunk.. take a pic about like the link i included.. i picked up an ae86 gts and it has fingers on both sides of the hinge going back to the springs.. and it sit about how i think this should..

but it just won't work..

if i could see it in it's proper setup, i think i would know what i need to get to fix..

LOL I think I probably should have warned you about that since I did the same thing :)
