I can understand her saying that................until you make the needed changes on it :) The cressy's are nice cruisers and have a shit load of potential.

Well, the blue bucket is not ultra bad from the looks of it all.
My advisement is, simply move slow. Take your time, don't rush and think out each
modification to the vehicle before you start. I think you'll really enjoy this car.

Thanks guys
Plans: Just grab a set of celica supras for now. if someone around the san diego area has a set they're willing to let go of, let me know.

Suspension: Don't ask (that pretty much answers that...with a set of scissors hahahaha) Yeah they were cut a couple coils all around but i plan on changing that down the road in the near future. they're not blown though. my buddy sold it to me like with all the spare parts (New struts/shocks all the way around so no bouncing).

All the maintenance has been done too. (brembo blanks all the way around with new brake fluid, Water pump, belts and fluids). She's got 150k on her and still runs pretty quiet. Short of suspension and rims, the only other things i plan to do, and this is a maybe, is a 6M and 5 speed swap. That's just to get around town cuz i don't plan on making a drift beast or a touge car out of it. I'd just get a AW11 or something like that for that. In short, it's my cruiser but the extra umph of a 6M would be welcome, or even a 2JZGE, but that's a big IF.

aside from that the car pretty much just has a set of Cut springs with KYB's all the way around, 6K HIDs and a Volvo lip (it was $20 at a the J-yard so i try not to scarpe it but if i do, im not trippin').

I'd love to get another one and just do a bunch of crazy shit to it, but, i'm chillin' for now. thanks for the welcome guys (I'm 26 btw. i figured majority of the people that are into older cars are older than me. no offense).

Whats with the trend of S chassis guys getting Cressidas? I hope they dont blow up to be the next drift scene car. :?

Car looks real clean, hope you treat her well. I've been debating on getting another Cressida. But I love being so different in my Maxima. lol

Too late for that TransAM... at least here in the lower midewest/southwest. If you get Supras, don't run anything bigger that 195s or you will have to start rolling fenders. For extra umph, look at a 7M. Dirt cheap and really easy to swap in. Around here you can find decent running, complete MkIII supras, which will have just about everything you need for a 5 speed swap, for well under a grand. Even better if you can find a MkIII turbo cheap. Don't let the haters scare you away from the 7M. JZs are fun, but by the time you get everything together for the swap you are gonna be looking at around 1500$ just for parts. Heck, If it is just a crusier, swap in a 5 speed and have some fun. The 5M is fine for cruising. I miss my cressy

There is no shame in hacking a few coils if you do it right. It beats the hell out of 4x4 mode.

I hear ya on the S-Chassis thing but hey man. i had my 240 since i was 16. All the drifter kids ruined that car for me. i went to the old BMW camp for a while too...that was gay.

OH !!! question. so if i go with the 5-speed swap, do i have to use a different ECU or no ?

No bigger that 195's, eh? What are they stock like 195/70/14 right ? i saw a website that made them in 15's but they wanted $230 a rim or something like that.

I treat her well. im gunna have to get it resprayed sometime soon though.

a few of us don't like the seating position of s13's. we much prefer the upright seating position of a sedan

The actual stock tire size on the 14x7 Supras is 225/60/R14 sometimes 235s as well. 235s will rub, I know from experience. 195/185 is the stock size on the 14x6 Supras. The 15 inch Supras were only made for about 6 months and only available on the L-type Supras. They are also only 6 inches wide with no dish. Just get the standard 14x7 Supras and go with a 205 or 215. Roll the fenders and you should be good to go.

5 speed swap will only require the W58 from a MkIII Supra along with the front of the driveshaft from the same Supra. You can use the pedal from an MX73 or an AE86. The pedal from the MkII or MkIII Supra can be used, but you will need to adjust/fab up something for the upper bolt. The 5M auto ecu will work fine with the 5 speed. There is some wiring you will have to do. If you search either Celicasupra.com, toyotacressida.net or jzxproject.com you will find write ups on the swap. Both JZX and tc.net will require you to register first and the registration process may take a few days. tc.net will be nicer to you as a newb, jzx may be a bit harsher...

^^^You can troll JZXP without registering (I recomend if your car is not in fact a JZX and you came from an s13 so you dont get e-thugged to death) I've learned the most from there, plus they are good for the LOLZ. TC.net is okay but you get alot of newbs asking the same questions over and over. Alot of us on here have had our fair share of X chassis too and can answer any of your questions.

If you find a supra to pillage the W58 and front shaft from try to look for a turbo to snag the rear end from as well, unless you dont mind the rear end skipping around with a welded diff.

I didn't think the MkIII diff would fit. It is the diff from the MkII you want. Isn't the MkIII diff like an 8" and the MX73 is a 7.5 inch? Look for a MkII Supra with the last digit of the three digit axle code being 3 or 5. That will be the LSD that will bolt right in. Make sure your W58 and drive shaft are from a MkIII(86.5-91) Supra. The MkII W58 will put the shifter in the wrong position.

Yeah i'm on JZX project but just to lurk. i don't post anything. Thanks forthe help guys. as far as being a newb, i am in terms of what will fit what but as far as the labor involved goes, i turn a wrench for a living so i think i'll be straight. i figured i'd people that know what's up rather than find out the hard (and expensive) way. thanks again guys.
