I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if this will be a straight swap, no nonsense.
I have a 72 Toyota Corona deluxe and I'm wanting to drop a 20r from a 76 Celica Gt. Thanks :tu:

That's good news, thank you sir. The transmission will as well, correct? (Stock 4 speed vs. 5 speed)

Don't the first gen celicas need to swap crossmembers when doing the 18r to
20r swap in the 71-74 models? If so I would expect the same would be said for the corona. And I wouldn't be surprised of the parts are the same...

You are correct. The proper crossmember only came in 75. 76-77 is too wide.

Good memory! I forgot the RA2x 75 crossmember fit the 71-74, and fit the 20/22r. I need a TA42 crossmember for my RA42, so I can fit a front sump 1UZ engine.

Come to think of it, 76-77 will fit 78-81 I've been told.

Gotta love toyotas.

+1 to what the others have already said... the 20/22R engines are not a direct swap to the 18R. Tranny will be fine but the crossmember will not bolt straight up without modification. The only direct swap for your car is an 18RG... a better choice than the 20/22R engine anyway... at least from a performance standpoint. get an 18Rg you'll be glad you did.

I imagine they are easier to access now, but not as cheap as the 20 and 22r and parts are more readily available for the 20/22. Although the 18r is a shit load sexier lol

Hello there I have a few questions id like to ask. First im just a kid but my father bought me 79-80 toyota corona liftback luxuy edtion and it came with a 20r motor is that stock or not? Also I live in califorina and I want to know were you guys get parts for the cars because my fuel cell i have is rusted. i found a place that is willing to sand blast it for $176. The only reason i have to do this is because i can't find the Fueltank. Its either that or I have to make a custom Fuel Cell. Also were can I get suspension parts for the car because i want to drop the car to give it a cleaner look im going to paint the car myself with the help of my brother. I have picuture of the car If you guys want to see it? Im just trying to get the car running. Later on Im going to do 305 small block ,and i want to know if the rear end will be able to cope with the power. will its a stock 305, because im going to turbo the 305 later. Also where i can get bodykits for the car because i want a lip wing on the car and i know I might have to make it myself as well and light and the grill for the car.

Thanks for the help

P.S For those of you that want to know how old Im. Im 17

Intake manifold is on opposite side 18r to 20r so take that into account for throttle linkages.
