Replaced the master cylinder and painted the brake booster.

My wife drove it afterwards and said it drives like new. Wife tested and wife approved! Lol

Getting back to that carb, did you have many issues with deleting vacuum lines? I'm considering a carb swap for my 78 Cressida with a 4M so I'm thinking the job would be pretty similar. Only difference I can think of is that my Cressida has an Air pump on it still.

I got rid of EVERYTHING but what it needs. So the only vacuum hoses left are the distributor advance and brake booster.

My car had the air pump too. To ditch it, I used a Power steering pump bracket and lines from a MX32 that didnt have the air pump.

Circled all the stuff that went in the trash.

It was an emissions control thing, like a smog pump. Pumped air into the exhaust to make the emissions cleaner or something :?

The air pump has two main purposes: 1. It pumps air into the exhaust manifold to promote a more complete combustion of the hydrocarbons, thereby reducing emissions. 2. It has a second main outlet pipe (at least on my MX32) which runs to the catalytic converter to cool the catalyst.

I don't know much more about it beyond that, this is just what I pulled out of my Haynes manual. It has a large number of vacuum lines attached to it as well.

So, when you pulled the air pump out of yours did you have to deal with the catalytic converter outlet pipe or is that unique to my car?

Forgive all the questions I'm just really unsure about this whole air pump thing and I don't want to screw anything up by taking it out..
