A video of my KE25 with a 4AGE 20V BT round Mallala... As you will see I'm very very soft through the esses and soft on the brakes everywhere, there is a good 2 secs a lap there I rekon.

nice. sounds absoulutely great!
you definitely are taking it very softly though..neatly but softly.i agree there looks to be 2-3sec you could wipe off that pb with some more aggressive driving..still 1'25's are very impressive for a 1.6n/a and 30yo chassis technology.
my pb around there is 1'23.05 in my light-tuned dc2 integra type-r.
i'll probably be out at mallala again for an open practice day in september, do u go to these often? would love to see/hear that thing in real life

Have a new PB of a 1.24.5 2 secs quicker, nephew drove the car in race 1 to a 1.23.2 2 secs under the EMu1600 lap record of 1.25.1, new tyres should see a 1.22 and ratio box probably 2 secs lower again for a high 1.20....... Then we get serious and build the engine for turbo power and a 1.18

Few videos of the state round.

Video of the start

The fast guys blowing my doors off down the back straight... I buttoned off so they didnt have to pass me at the kink. Those Class D cars fly

Clint driving my car in Race 1

Me driving in race 3, watch for me nearly hitting a RX7 on the start and a Magna on the first lap have a little moment 5 or 6 360s at the kink
YouTube - SA State Championship Race 3 ...me driving

Couple more vids Race 4 prt1,2, I have a spin in the last race but after that strung a few good 1.25 laps together. I thought I was going quicker but times were slower. A mate who races out ther told me all the Sunday times in the afternoon will be slower because they has Supercarts racing= chain lube/2stroke oil =greasy slow track

Race 4 part 1 with extra big skid through 1st and 2nd for my little 1600cc motor on the warm up lap and extra value spin into the Southern
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hF9qcIfZFeQ

race 4 prt 2 bit boring but a few fast guys blow my doors off again, some nice little hangs out the Northern hairpin though
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfChzoUwV4k

Also went to U-PULLIT RACING and scored some brake calipers for the rear, single piston series 2 RX7 a bit nicer than the old heavy and sticky VN Commode caliper..... $44 for both calipers FTW, new seals next week and they will be good to go Couldnt find any close ratio gearboxes though

Love your car! I was stoked when I saw the feature in Zoom. You've done a great job. Will look forward to seeing you out at Mallala sometime. Love those quads and TTT trumpets!

Thats no good mate.... yeah the weather was perfect and I got a 23 today so very happy, expect a 22 with decent rubber and soften the rear a bit, the front grip is great , rear end woeful very taily to drive but could be the tyres. nephew got a 17 with slow traffic so a low/mid 16 raceday should happen, other nephew took of his a arm on the rear and it turned into a nasty oversteery thing to drive :( .

Good day , but a guy in a black ralliart colt kept trying to outbrake me into the southern even though I was ten secs a laps quicker

Just got back and what a weekend of racing, we lost a few races off the programme due to carnage on the mountain.... it bites big time when you get it wrong. Thankfully we had a incident free weekend and improved our times every session, found 12 secs from my first lap to my fastest lap and probably another 5-7 secs still to be found.

Masters session

The masters session is a there for first timers to Bathurst and is quite handy for learning lines, brake markers , flag points etc. We went behind a MX5 with a decent steerer behind the wheel and followed his lines. First impressions of the track were, plenty of concrete walls and blind corners.

Qualifying

It started badly in the form up grid, I wear perscrpition sunglasses and when I put my helemet on and slide on the sunnies the metal frame broke and didnt have time to get my clear lenses back at the motel. I did qualifying with limited vision but qualified 35 out of 43, very happy as I was expecting to be last

http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/re...4/2009.BATH.Q1

Race 1

Started badly and was swamped, was running 2nd last but got past a few cars and had a great dice with BMW all race, I kept missing 3rd gear into the chase , had a knob end in a Alfa try to squeeze me on the line and nearly ran me off the road !

http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/re...4/2009.BATH.C1

Race 2(pissing down -- just like the bathurst when the GTR slid off the track)

I had some dramas with my car in this one, some monkey---me had run the kill switch cable too close to the wiper arm and motor as I was leaving pit lane up mountain straight my wipers stoppped working and suddenly my engine died... what had happened was a clip had worked loose and the cable tangled round the wiper arm loooped round it seized the wiper and killed the engine.... I then had to drive and change gear with one arm, while the other arm held the kill switch on in pelting rain at Bathurst with no wipers!!. I was just trying to keep up on the warm up lap and get round to the pits... I nearly aquaplanned off at the esses beacuse I hadnt been warming the brakes I hit the pedal, panicked and locked the fronts, thankfully I got grip turned and headed straight for the pits. About 12 cars pulled in within 2 laps because the conditions were terrible.

http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/re... ... 9.BATH.C10

Race 3

This race was shortened due to a big accident the race before

I started from last position due to the DNS the race before made a reasonable start but was squeezed at turn 1 and could pass many cars had some great battles with a couple of BMW and a jag.... The highlight of the race for me was I was nearly brave enough to hold it flat through chase curve I finished34th out of 45 cars so very happy, the cars went back on the trailer undamaged and felt a massive sense of achievment to finally race at Bathurst

http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/re... ... 9.BATH.C27

What I have learned from the experience is I need a close ratio gearbox, the mountain is fantatsic and if you get the chance race on the track. I will be back with a better knowledge of the track and a car with a few improvements, hoping next time for a low 50 high 40 with the box, a engine freshen( its a import motor which is stock), better tyres and brakes and a slightly more balls out attitude, not too much though the top is scary and it bites hard...

A little update on the Rolla , Ive now had the engine rebuilt with Toda pistons, spool rods, ported head, balanced and blueprinted bottom end, 550cc inj and it will run on e85. Ive also acquired a holinger gearbox with straightcut gears and close ratios, I have upgraded the thickness of the rotors and gone to a Hawkht10 pad compouds.

Fitted flares and bigger 13x7 rims and 205/60/13 tyres, It should be hitting the dyno next week and hoping for a 20hp gain over the previous setup of 182hp @ the flywheel

here a few pics

Awesome cars, and great vids! Sounds pretty mean.

Question for you though sir, when you say "reset leaf" for the rear suspension, what does that mean? Custom built, or customized from stock?
