So I have been into mini trucks for a long time as I am working on 3 Mazda pickups but I have always wanted something older. I saw an ad for 2 1970's era Toyota Hilux pickups for CHEAP. I swooped in and bought them both.

They were sitting for over 10 years wrapped up in blackberry bushes. The all white truck I threw a battery in and it fired right up!!! Water pump was stuck so with a pull ad quick clean it is perfect. The front wheel was locked up so I got the 4 new wheel cylinders, new shoes, and turned the drums. Rebuilt the front then went to bleed the brakes and the rear is kicking no fluid out so onto the rear brakes. It also appears to need a clutch so back in the garage it goes.

Are they that rare over there? I've got 3 of them. The people who bought the property next to my parents had one in their shed that they wanted rid of so they gave it to me when I was 10. It sat in the shed for 12 years and I had it running within 45 minutes. I drove that thing around the farm till I left home at 18. Indestructible old beast it was. Then there were 2 more on the property I ended up buying. Haven't had a chance to play with them yet

That looks great, I like that it still has it's patina. I got a 71 Hilux with a early 18RG. I converted the front brakes to disk, it makes a difference. (even though the booster isn't working). I used the set up and steering knuckles from a 77 Hilux.

Kingtoy, PM me. I have a bunch of parts from a 71 and 69 I had parted.

I love seeing more and more early Hiluxs being built-up. Gives me good ideas for mine.
