Really? Seems like a bunch of 510 guys don't run them in California?

In order to pass inspection upon re-certifying the drive as operational (currently classified as a non-op) it needs the bumpers.

If the car has been constantly registered, and its a pre-75 that never needs a smog check, you can get by doing whatever the heck you want with it here in Cali :P

Hey, Kostamojen, I recently bought an FF-1 wagon up in Northern CA that I believe you went to see. It was on Ebay last year. I need to rebuild the/find new front brake cylinders and master cylinder. Do you have a source at all? I've been in contact with this fellow Paul in Connecticut who apparently has the stuff, but can't find them.

The wheel cylinders I found on Ebay. I haven't rebuild mine yet, but it might turn out the "case" is wrong but the plunger and such inside will work so you just swap it out.

I did find a master cylinder rebuild kit on Ebay too, but I haven't done that yet either.

Does that car still need a front valence? I have a spare one if you need it. I also have a spare corner lens, I recall that car had a broken one.

BTW, ultimatesubaru.org has more stuff relating to old Subaru's, in the "Historic Subaru" section:

I am familiar with the Ultimate Subaru board. I happened upon this thread first. I haven't seen brake cylinders for the FF-1 listed on Ebay. Are the ones you found listed as for the 1100? I actually do need a valance if you have a spare. That would be great. I thought I'd have trouble finding one. My email address is headlessjonee at yahoo dot com if you want to communicate that way.

Here is a right front one listed. Ya, look for 1100 if FF-1 or FF1 doesn't provide results.

Sorry, its been raining non stop here, which is EXTREMELY unusual for this area of California.

Next week I'm going to start restoring the fuel tank myself, followed by re-building the original transmission. After that, front brakes and the engine.

I'm working on painted the fuel tank right now.

I'm curious though, there was this black "goo" between the tank and the chassis when I removed it from the car. I don't know what it was, or if I should put more back on when I re-install the tank.

Also, the fuel sender and plug had rubber gaskets that are rather brittle now (and I know the fuel sender one was leaking). How should I go about getting replacements, or should I use some sort of liquid-gasket type sealer?

Kosta, that black goo would of been some sort of body sealant, just replace it with other black sealant, maybe even windscreen sealant if you want it to stay flexable
Cheers Thierry

Cool, thanks for the info. I know the stuff you are talking about, I should get some anyway for when I install the glass :)

I know I haven't done enough lately, so here is a photo of the fuel tank I'm currently painting:
