'82 Leone saloon

Hi everyone, my father felt obliged to buy an aunts 66,000 km 1owner '82 Leone automatic saloon last year after she suffered a stroke & no-one seemed to want her car at all, so it needed saving.
Though pretty immaculate it still isn't really needed & doesn't get much use so he's now thinking about putting it upon Classic/Historic/Club permit plates & had just noticed torn front driveshaft gaiters/boots. Someone has suggested the driveshafts must be pressed out of the frt wheelbearings/hub-carrier instead of sliding out like most fwd including my Hondas & Lancias greatly complicating their removal/re-booting/replacement. Can anyone confirm this for me and/or possibly point me in the direction of a w/shop manual I could download (eventually) regarding this.
Next I'll have to find some photos for you all won't I.

I'm fairly certain the slide out just like any other CV axle.

At the gearbox end there is a roll pin that needs to be tapped out, remember to put back the same way when reinstalling, and the shaft slides off the spline, but the wheel end the nuts needs to be removed, big socket, the strut needs to be removed from the lower ball joint so you have room to slide the inner joint away from the gearbox and slide the outer joint through the brake disc.

That model shaft is easily bought new if you dont want to rebuild the old shaft

Thanks for that, driveshaft sounds fairly normal then.
Was worried it might be like my Honda Z or '84 Subaru Sherpa (670cc REX) which were really designed for drum brakes (with no separate wheel hub), with hub sliding directly on to the end of driveshaft which was located by the wheel bearings.

Finally some pictures for you all.
On the look out for another front bumper though there were at least 3 different bumpers available for this body shape so it's not proving easy to find a decent one.

Hi again. Leone's still doing fine.
Though I must admit my father GLUED its old driveshaft CV joint boots together! I wouldn't have thought that would last 5 minutes though it seems to have held together for the limited use it gets. Dad suspects the mechanic checking them for roadworthyness actually cut them for the work since there was no grease leakage and they were otherwise in excellent condition (He also took his Lancia Flavia2000 berlina there and was told the revering lamps needed completely rewiring. After going to the effort of checking the switch at the g/box he found both globes had been removed....).
Still haven't found a good front bumper. After much ringing around I had gone to buy one from a wreaker for lots of money to find it in worse shape than ours, and for the dual headlamp model with indicators in the bumper.

Dad actually tried to sell it at one stage since it doesn't get used but had little interest and the one person that did show interest returned it suddenly claiming it was a rusty body fillered heap - Absolutely not!

I had a drive last week which was a reminder that I'm not an "Automatic" person, I'm rarely foot-to-the-floor so accelerating in traffic requires a patient character - and I'm not THAT patient making for a rather dull (serene?) ride, I don't really expect it to match my Accord but it shouldn't be that far off! With this being the only automatic car in the family (well except brothers cars), a 5-speed conversion seems terribly tempting if I ever come across parts, (not sure how applicable later '80's Leone parts would be). Though having covered only 67,000 kilometers that still seems unfair to the car. Just hard to adjust to automatics that were intended for people who didn't drive -though it has fulfilled that role perfectly.
