Hey all,

Some of you know me & my car from other forums but, for those that dont, here is my project:

1978 Datsun 330 (280C)

Work so far:

Welding all done (new sills, door bottoms, nosed & decked)
L28E Transplant (from a 280ZX)
Temporary paint in purple (going black sometime soon)
'Interesting' shifter
Grille 'reworked'
Lowered 5" up front, 3" at the rear

How it arrived:

How it is now:

Like I said, eventually it'll be black, and also - when money allows - it's gonna get airbags and a new interior. Also the 'VIP' badge I tried to use to hide a paint blemish has got to go as soon as I remember to pull it off. Also, gonna powdercoat the steels black and run spidercaps & trim rings.

For now though Im just rolling like this.

Hope you like

JS

Wow.. Yakuza, indeed. That car looks like it belongs in a Japanese car chase video. Awesome. :)

Yeh, I never understood that... for a car SO styled and built like a US car it seems silly they wouldnt market there!!

my thought exactly especially when we got cadillacs in that era that a family of 8 can fit in and still have leg room.... lol (bad marketing from japan :x )

I concur, cedric>maxima.

Also, it blows my mind how awesome that shifter is, I wasent expecting that at all. Is it a mock-up or is it a actual sword with an edge and everything?

It is an actual sword. I dulled the edge though to spare any finger choppage!

Whoa! if anyone pisses you off, just invite them back to ur car for some guillotine action

I like the paint effect, did you just overspray the original paint?

I reckon it looks great now! just needs some wide polished hayashi's or something similar

The paint was an accident! We primered it and blew a semi translucent purple over. Unfortunately the workshop was pretty dark and we didn't realise how patchy it was hahaha

Ill be blowing it in a rough black sometime soon...not matt, more of a 'knarly' finish.

Nahhh, Im trying to avoid going he easy route with the styling. Im not after a JDM look with the car. Mirror-less keeps the lines clean
