At last! A bit of time to do some work on him!
Replacing the bent shaft in the replacement Autospoiler motor.
The other one fried something in the fire.

Got him back at home again and put in a solid day putting stuff back together.
Only a few things left to do.
Fried the head unit as well so that will have to be replaced also.

Alrighty then.
In the spirit of doing everything twice, and keen readers of this thread will know I do this a bit, I put a new head unit in yesterday.
And it didn't work.

After a bit of swearing I thought that the sparkie hadn't hooked up the power cables.
(when he had it the centre console was out so it was just a bunch of wiring and terminals)
At that point, Elliot, who was applying stickers to our work van in the next car space asked if I had checked the fuses.
Of course I've checked the bloody fuses! But I'll go and check them again just to humour you.
Lo and behold, the accessory power fuse was blown.

It was about this time that the penny dropped and I realised the fuses I had checked (a while ago) were in the original fuse box.
This fuse box was from Fatz's donor junker.
Replaced the fuse and the sound system burst to life.

So I've just gone and replaced a perfectly good head unit because of a blown fuse.
Suzi will be the recipient of that, along with the 2 Sony 2 way 6" speakers I replaced (because one of them turned out to have a loose screw, it wasn't actually blown)
I thought they were had it because of the buzz and the fact that they actually came of of my red over silver coupe after doing about 3 years service in that!
(makes them at least 8 years old)
Check first folks. Save yourself some dough.

The Airconditioning still isn't working and will definitely need to go to the sparkie.
The switch lights up but is not doing anything. Compressor not starting, revs not kicking up.
I know because I checked

Looks good, don't know why you would let it go. Hopefully the funds from the sale (when it is eventually sold) will go into something a little older. Maybe a C10 or C110 or even a Z. And then we will have more interesting builds to read.

Also is that a Golf GTI spoiler on the front of the Suzuki?
EDIT: Just noticed this in gumtree. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/lockyer-waters/cars-vans-utes/1963-datsun-blue-bird-wagon/1042771738 not sure if it's your thing or you want to do that much work but i'm just going to leave this link here.

Yes, an update.
So, where were we?
The Classic Skyline nationals have just been held at Shepparton in Victoria Australia.
I made a set of 15" Impul R701s to avoid scrubbage on the track days.
I think they turned out rather attractive.
The car was on the Work Ewings for the travelling and show and shine.

Travelled down Friday,

Good work. Must have helped those Lap Times. By the way, did I miss the reason you didn't sell your car after all ?

That is the original paint on the car.
We probably spoke and didn't realize who each other were. :)

The diff was getting a little rumbly so I took it out and put all new bearings and seals in it.

Took the opportunity to replace a split driveshaft boot too.

Last job of the day and .....BUGGER!

It tightened up when I was spinning the nut on so I went to take it back off and it didn't want to go that way either.
So I leaned on it and 'PING'.
Just found my next job.

By this time tomorrow this car may very well have a new owner.
Big news indeed.
