In the spirit of doing everything twice, and keen readers of this thread will know I do this a bit, I put a new head unit in yesterday.
And it didn't work.
After a bit of swearing I thought that the sparkie hadn't hooked up the power cables.
(when he had it the centre console was out so it was just a bunch of wiring and terminals)
At that point, Elliot, who was applying stickers to our work van in the next car space asked if I had checked the fuses.
Of course I've checked the bloody fuses! But I'll go and check them again just to humour you.
Lo and behold, the accessory power fuse was blown.
It was about this time that the penny dropped and I realised the fuses I had checked (a while ago) were in the original fuse box.
This fuse box was from Fatz's donor junker.
Replaced the fuse and the sound system burst to life.
So I've just gone and replaced a perfectly good head unit because of a blown fuse.
Suzi will be the recipient of that, along with the 2 Sony 2 way 6" speakers I replaced (because one of them turned out to have a loose screw, it wasn't actually blown)
I thought they were had it because of the buzz and the fact that they actually came of of my red over silver coupe after doing about 3 years service in that!
(makes them at least 8 years old)
Check first folks. Save yourself some dough.
The Airconditioning still isn't working and will definitely need to go to the sparkie.
The switch lights up but is not doing anything. Compressor not starting, revs not kicking up.
I know because I checked
