Sometime earlier this year i decided i wanted a 260z 2+2. it's an odd car in america, being the first 2+2 body with small bumpers {at least some} and twin su. plus on the S30 i kinda like the big butt look. Yours looks great. god i love that hr31 too! so cool

Sorry for not updating. Nothing much has happened to the 2+2. It has been a wet winter here so i didnt want to strip it back just yet. Buying some discs tomorrow and some blocks to start the fun!
Drove the car to a shed in the country, my neighbours dont like red dust!
looks like the head gasket has gone, blowing lots of smoke and floaties in the radiator. Not sure if i mentioned but the block is a L28 with E88 head and early 240 Su's!
Im still thinking over a draw/suck thru turbo setup.

Welcome aboard!

I know with my roadster, there's been no issues with the mirrors on the guards. we have had a few guys re-reg their roadsters, with mirrors in the "std" spot and that was no problem. I'm no expert, but it's more a mod to a newer car rather than keeping the original spot. Maybe I've had a nice Vic Roads dude

Are you keeping it full reg, or CH plates? You'll have far less trouble on CH's.

Keep up the great work- i look forward to reading on the progress.

I have a draw thru turbo system on my 240Z... It draws thru a Holley 4 barrel carb... I've been told to be aware of nasty results incase of a backfire.....I need a pop-off valve in the manifold somewhere to help avoid the situation if I were to run the car in some kind of competition...
I just got it running after it sat for last 20+ years.... We'll see how it works out...If you go turbo I think a blow thru system is a better way to go if you do any kind of competition...
Good looking car you got there... Good luck with it no matter what you do..

Convenient time, that bump.

...The wheels (fat ones on the back)/stance make that. Love it, as it is.

Long time no update!
Well i work like a snail, progress over the last few months has been made however.
Rebuilt front and rear ends;
Front and back new KYBs, Lowered springs, bump stops, dust boots, all bushes, tied rods ends, ball joints and off set camber bushes for the front control arms/transverse links. While it was out cleaned and coated in black.
Image
Also replaced rear strut top with tops from the front, lowered the rear another inch.
Image
While i was in there i stripped back the metallic blue paint! from under guards and painted in black enamel. looks much better. its still amazing me that im not finding much rust only very slight surface rust.
Image
much better stance now. lurking in the trees
Image
front still needs to come down a bit.
Image
rims coated in gloss 2pac.
Image
fat ass!

starting to see it transform

Bought a momo colapsable boss for my old school saas wheel, keeps the cops happy.

Ok had my Cam cover coated signal red. Also in pic are my cabs after a bit of a clean up.

Better pic of carbs and linkage, Linkage has been improved. I replaced the plastic ball bearing rod ends that hold the main shaft with stainless steel. Also throttle links have been replaced with brass items.

So far only rust i have removed and plated up is bottom radiator support. Engine bay is just coated in gloss enamel for easy touch up. If and when the engine dies every thing will come out for a full strip down and repaint in whatever colour the body is at that stage. While i was in there i added additional spot welds to strut tops and inner guard where the meet strut support/towers.
Bit off a test fit and glory shot. I need to trim a bit of meat off the carb manifold plate as it dose not sit well with the header manifold plate.
You can just see in the pic new stainless rods, rod ends and links.

not much to update. just searching the net for the best prices on strut bracing and RCAs. I cant wait to start stripping back the body, just have to wait till the weather turns around, its raining and cold.
I am also looking at finding a new set of rims, i have found some local guys that are bringing in pairs or old SSR etc. hopefully i can find some Mk2 or 3s in 8"jj.

I generally don't like 2+2 but yours makes me change my mind, it looks very nice.
Do you have pics of the wheels on the car, please?

no pics yet, the front guards bonnet are off currently. Im stripping back the old paint from around the radiator support and giving it a coat of black. as well as painting the inner guards. Im about to start the exterior body work. Im working on the car this weekend so i might get some tyres swapped over to the equips and take a few shots.
