Are you asking me to look out the window Burabuda???? :P

I would say you're entirely correct, comparing the one in this thread, I would think there's about an inch difference, maybe slightly more.

The section that raises towards the park lamps, does not exist on the NZ bumper that was on my car, or the JDM one that I replaced it with (due to damage from the PO)

The back looks to be about the same again. 1-2"

Sorry draconis, but correction made ;)

Lovely car regardless!

Just so you can see for yourself;

Leopard/infiniti m30 are front sump vg30. I just raided one last weekend at the junkyard for the crossmember, sump and pickup.

Sadly, they are probably more rare than a s12.

If you buy a us model 200sx se v6, it will have 5 lug hubs which might make swapping over vented rear brakes from the 1987 and later Z31.....and it's possible you can do the same upgrades done on Z31s (4 piston from 88-89 turbos) to the front.

I've been harvesting the pedals from them for first generation maximas and M30/leopards.

Kyteler, You are also looking at a MKII S12. They are different than the MKI's. Now if you took an Aussie/Kiwi MKII, they would be the same. Sorry, prolly should have made that more clear. The MKIs were from 1983 (Japan)/1984 (US) to 1986. The MKIIs were from 1987-1988. They did a bit of a face lift between the two.

I'm running m30 lights in my bumper for the turn signals btw.

As for the braking setup for the S12 SEs, yes, they are virtually the same as the Z31. The whole rear is the same but for the diff mount. I have the rear trailing arms, hubs and axles so I can swap mine out and put them in allowing me to run vented rear rotors. Also, with just a little modification, I can run Z32 front brakes on my car also. Everything all but lines up. Just need to throw a washer in some place to make it line up. We have a write up on it on our forums.

Oh ok, so the difference in length is solely between the MkI and MkII?

I don't know that I've seen a MkII (I assume it's just what I would call a facelift) one over here.

possibly an inane question on my part, but wouldn't the difference in bumpers be mainly due to the U.S. 'federal' 5mph law?

Probably but from what I'm aware of, they are the same of that time period.

Nice car man, I just bought the silvia from "Kyteler" on page two of this forum. Ill post pics once finished, undergoing a RB30DET with Garrett T04E Turbo conversion right now, then its the paintshop for Two tone black on candy apple red bottom also custom origin-lab "stylish" full kit.

Can you put up pics of what the car looks like now with engine mods complete??

As of now the car is under going another engine swap and pictures wont be available for a month or so. What I have are a small collection of random pics that wont do much. I have been really busy with many things and trying to stay sane that I havent been in many places internet-wise as I was. But shortly here I'll be hitting all my internet forums that I frequented more with updates and be more active.

Awesome car and story! You don't see many S12s around, and even fewer are as nice as yours.

Do you mean like a coupe without all the glass in the hatch? There are coupes that have a lil trunk and such but in my opinion, they are not as nice looking as the S13 coupes.

No, he meant no B-pillar, so when all four windows were rolled down there's nothing in the middle.

And he was joking.

Oh ok. Sorry. :p I was confused about the hardtop thing. But yeah, I might as well not be hardtop with the sun roof and all that glass in the hatch.

And I'll have a pic or two up in the next day or so.

its cars like THIS that made Japan famous in America!!! if it wasnt for the 80s Japan would NOT be where they are 2day...the 80s for Japanese cars was like the 60s for American cars...lol,which is why EVERY AUTOMAKER WILL have to go retro :D nice S12!!! oh,and wassup Draconis! its me DIASISS from CLUB-S12

what are you talking about? the late 60's and 70's was the turning point in japanese vehicles in america, the 240z practically paved the way for the rest of the japanese industry here. It's 80's cars like the s12 that became forgotten and over looked.

Don't get me wrong, I own one, just seems like a fairly monumental factual error.
