Based on the overwhelming response I've decided to update you all on my progress.
Yesterday I took a trip out to a restoration shop I'm moonlighting at (much like David at CCN). One day I'll take more pictures, but here's a teaser for now, from the cockpit of the 510:
That's a late 356 sunroof coupe. An SC, to be exact. And that's far from the rarest or most valuable car at the shop! What I like about Pete (the owner) is that he can appreciate something like my Datsun just as much as a vintage Alfa or Porsche. It's nice to find a kindred spirit, haha.
I borrowed a couple jack stands and jacked the car up in front of my garage, then took the wheels back to the shop, dismounted the tires, and sandblasted them in preparation for new paint.
I'm rather fond of David's Minica (aren't we all?), with one of my favorite features being the eggshell-white paintjob and matching steelies. I decided to go for a similar look with my wheels. I found a shade of Krylon called "Ivory" that's damn close; here's a preview:
I only got the one wheel painted & cleared last night; the other three are in primer. Expect another update soon!
