Hi everyone, I've finally decided to focus specifically on finding a reasonably clean Hako while I'm here in Japan. I've gone through most of the threads here to see what other owners have run into (and for the great pictures of course). Unfortunately, most of my research in the past has been for the S30 and I'm at a bit of a loss for information regarding the C10 Skylines.

I was curious if there are any areas I should know of where these cars typically rust out that aren't obvious from a quick external check? The 5 or 6 that I've looked at so far have all had pretty different issues. Any pointers on peculiar aspects of the car that may act up would be greatly appreciated as well.

Here are the areas I'm aware of:
1. Side covers in the engine bay.
2. Floor box.
3. Rocker panels.
4. Bottom of the front and rear fenders between the wheels.
5. Bottom edge of the doors.

Location and status not stated, however if you are in or attached to USFJ your local auto hobby shop personnel can be of great assistance. They know the local models and can give you a "checklist" and probably can do a pre buy inspection for you.

Look at trunk, especially under the spare. Rust is VERY common in areas under the surfline.

Oops, sorry about that. For some reason I thought I had filled out the profile info. I'm in Fujisawa, a bit southwest of Tokyo and Yokohama.

I'm not in the USFJ but have a couple friends who are. I'll see if they can ask around about the shops.

The next few cars I have in mind to look at are in the Shizuoka and Chiba area.

Check frame under door also frame rails in rear , rear of tire... On my car there were zero issues till I started to pull back some of the paint all the shabby body work started to reveal itself. Other spots to look. Bottom of windshield corners as well as rear glass. Tail lamp area.
