Im looking to buy a new transmission for my 240z as mine pretty much bit the dust. Im currently looking at this local l28 + 5 speed tranny combo.
The L28 and 5 speed transmission are in the 280z and work fine. I checked the pair out today, and the oil plug was on the driver's side of the tranny. I believe I read somewhere this means it came out of Maxima and it is the same exact transmission as the 280z's minus the location of the plug, but I've only ever read this once.
Also, my buddy who was with me really believes I will need a different transmission crossmember, as he thinks this one looked different.
Can anyone confirm or deny if this information is true, and if possible, if this combination will fit/bolt in into my later model 240z? I believe it will because it is attached to the L28 and works fine in the 280z, but I can't find a lot of information on Maxima transmission swaps in general.
