I have a period woodgrain steering wheel and want to fit it to my wp312 bluebird.
the local parts shop has no listing for the boss kit to suit the datsun.

Just wanted to know if anyone has fitted an after market steering wheel to a P312 model bluebird or what other model datsun would fit.

Thank's, Drew.

Unfortunately, I do not have an answer to what fits... but I would recommend against a Boss hub. They are practically garbage and with how rare a wp312 is, I would recommend buying quality parts.

Do you have a picture of the column with the wheel removed?- that may help identifying what else would fit.

if you count the splines you should be able to get a matching boss, just find one that has the same amount of splines.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply's though counting the splines wont work, there are coarse & fine splined shafts in different models and the diametre & taper of the splines differs,

not easy... hopefully someone here will have fitted something... i want this thing finnished.

Thanks, Drew.

Can you have a local machinist use the current steering wheel center and press-fit it into a new lathed out hub for you? If you werent in OZ, Id be able to do it for you quickly on a lathe at work.

Here is me turning a hub adapter for my 510

Unfortunately, I didnt finish it as other parts took priority over a steering wheel, but it probably only too me about an hour to do that. All that was left was parting it off, and drilling the bolt pattern in the top. Maybe 20min. worth of work... any competent machinist can hook you up.
